This is so helpful, because im so hellbent on these deep few scratches, i never thought about the future, especially when this car is my daily so it is prone to get scratches again.

First thing I see when I opened YouTube. Was dealing with this exact thing today. Had some stubborn scratches on a jaguar ftype car was ruff altogether. Thank you for the reminder!! And great advice from you always. Sometimes it can’t be perfect all the time. We all gotta learn to let go at some point.

“Hypothetical question”
If I were a detailer what are options (solutions) I can present to a customer with these types of problems ? So they don’t think you didn’t do a good job, etc etc

On my daily i only do paint work every 3 or 5 years. I only get the swirls and leave deeper scratches alone. Especially in places near the fenders. They will be back. I will hit a deeper scratch on the hood though; couldn't stand seeing it every day

What is the average thickness of clearcoat versus the average thickness of a properly applied ceramic coating? The argument being is the amount of clearcoat removed during the polishing process equal to the thickness of the ceramic coat that applied back on top of the clearcoat, therefore negating the amount of clearcoat lost in the polishing process

This is important to know perhaps you have clients and this is an ongoing problem with their vehicle or whatever the case may be, never knew this seems like common knowledge because compound cuts clear coat but it’s not something you’d think about

I love watching this channel like I’m going to fix up my 2002 Toyota Tundra with the paint pretty much gone

I’ve started with a light cutter and then stepped up if necessary.

You have a video that shows how much clear coat you’re removing everytime you polish out those scratches? Another video shows it would take around 40 polishes to remove all the clear coat.

Please let me know what car measures at 20 microns of paint . I get readings at 4.5-7.5 on the new eco paints

So how do you know which scratches you can cut deeper?

Only on repainted cars you can chase with confidence. My new Mazda has about 75-100 microns of paint. My repainted Infiniti has as high as 200 microns and an average of about 150.

Easy fix. Touch up paint, wet sand, compound, polish, seal.

Would you recommend using a polish or wax or compound with fillers? For a work truck.
