As a former 11C mortarman I know they don't go off when you drop one. That being said, you still piss a little when one drops near you.

Just remember, "anti-tamper device" means different things for landmines than for medications.

A combat engineer here, they might also have a mouse trap anti-handeling device under it to ruin your day

These can also be used as traps. While a soldier is clearing out the mines there are soldiers waiting in the bushes like it’s Vietnam

Fun fact in every landmine warfare book it speaks of putting an anti tamper device on 1 out 5 or 10 mine to discourage this type of removal
