In this video, I investigate the best biome and height to mine in order to find deepslate emerald ore, and it's a lot weirder than you might think...

This video was recorded in Vanilla Minecraft version 1.20.4 on the Java Edition of the game; however, most of the information is also true of Bedrock Edition.

Notes:
- A myth I have heard is that part of the deepslate ore vein has to be in stone; this is not true, though, deepslate emerald ore can generate completely in deepslate or tuff. Emerald ore is more common higher up though, so you are more likely to see it closer to the stone layers, which is where I believe this myth started
- In theory, every mountain or hill biome should have equal rates IF you can avoid cave biomes interfering. However, windswept gravelly hills should be the best bet in avoiding cave biomes.
- Don't get discouraged, even at the perfect height and biome, it's still quite rare.

Alternatively, if you have (like me) an older world, with chunks that have been generated during the caves and cliffs update, first part, you can quite easily find deepslate emerald ore around Y 0-15 in any mountainous biome ;-)

Cherry grobe's are bigger so searching under those is better. And since they generate dripstone caves ocassionally, it DOES reduce your range of searching

Interestingly when I play modded the biome mods can sometime generate deepslate and (more often) tuff up on the surface, making deepslate coal weirdly common.

Also, it might be funny to see an Any% speedrun for finding deepslate emerald ore

Great Video! Literally have a stack of them in my HC world. It took a couple months lol (I also got a stack of every sherd)
And I once had an Erosion value below -1 and it had a DeepDark at Y=101.
