My son is on the spectrum and he used to cry whenever we would sing him happy birthday so we stopped until he started to binge Futurama and now we sing the “What day is today, it’s Dex’s birthday, what a day for a birthday, let’s all have some cake!” and he likes that. You gotta respect it if people react badly to stuff, it doesn’t matter if it makes you happy if it’s about them.

25:00 I get where the coworkers are coming from. For many people, it’s hard to imagine not liking birthday celebrations, so they might have thought they were doing something nice for her. However, they should have respected her wishes. If someone says they don’t like something, especially repeatedly, it’s important to listen and respect their preferences.
In this case, the coworkers were in the wrong. They ignored her clear requests and did what they wanted, not considering her feelings. While they might have had good intentions, it doesn’t excuse disregarding her wishes. Respecting someone's boundaries is crucial, even if their preferences are hard to understand.
So yes, the coworkers are the "scallywags" here. They should have respected her wishes and not forced their idea of a celebration on her.

The second story, poor guy, was just trying to be a good, supportive boyfriend. These videos are the best. it feels like we're just hanging out with Kris

That 1st story hit hard man. My grandpa died like 2 months ago and I have only now cleaned up my room. But during those 2 months my mom would always come into my room and get mad cuz my room was an absolute mess. And I wanted to clean it I really did but i wasn't in the headspace to do so and I had so many tests to study for that I fell into a depressive rut and had trouble even getting out of bed. And I'll be honest, if someone took a picture of my depression room and shared it with everyone, I would have yelled too😃

24:43 also for this part I’m going to say no. It would be murky if they hadn’t told their coworkers ‘hey I’m uncomfortable with this whole thing please don’t celebrate my birthday’ but they told EVERYONE IN ADVANCE! That they were uncomfortable and did not want this. It was no longer about them being a spoil sport and not wanting to celebrate, but the fact that they stated their boundaries and their coworkers completely trampled all over them. If their coworkers wanted to a reason to throw a party and have cake they could have said hey we bought a cake for OP’s birthday but they don’t want to be bothered about it please respect that and enjoy the cake. Or found some other reason to celebrate. At the end of the day it doesn’t make the reason if someone says they are uncomfortable about something then others need to respect that.🙂

2:24 this first story breaks my heart. Depression is no fun, and shouldn't be anyone's source of entertainment

The first one hit hard. I struggled with depression in my tween years and my room was a mess. My dad constantly bugged me about it and it drove me insane. That sister is absolutely the AH and more.

Telling someone you cheated 20 years later is selfish. It is taking your partners peace, trust, and joy to relieve your own guilt. Go to therapy and learn to let it go.

Jessica true story on the "I don't want to use the only free time I have [to myself ] to clean." I work in a school as a counselor and I do after school events sometimes multiple times a week too and just being able to have peace and quiet is valuable during the week.

Feel that first story. I have anxiety and depression and my place gets horrible. Imagine getting anxiety cuz your place is dirty but not having the motivation to clean it because of my depression. It's a constant struggle in my head. My bf is very understanding of it tho. It doesn't stay messy, just stays messy longer than what normal people would do

24:14 Why can't people just respect other people's boundaries? Stop pretending you're celebrating someone when you don't even respect their wishes! Throw a cake party if you want to, just don't make it about someone who doesn't want it!

15:35 If you've kept it a secret for 10, 20 or however many years that you cheated and your spouse has absolutely NO idea, take it to your grave. I cannot imagine being married for many years, thinking the whole time everything was fine, that my wife loved me and has been faithful all those years only to be let down. If you cheated you should feel awful. There's no reason the one who didn’t cheat should also feel awful.
