Just a little chat that's been rolling around in my head about the 2 sides of new Linux users.

I’ve been looking your videos and became a subscriber. You have some really great content and have a style that is very approachable and easy to understand. I noticed that you haven’t made any videos lately. Please don’t give up. There are people out here that really do appreciate the time and effort you put into making people more aware and not intimidated by Linux. I’d like to see a video, if you don’t mind on mounting and partitions if you can. Knowing your teaching style, I know it’ll be great. Hope to see some videos soon. Thanks, Dorian!

I like this format.
Seen that on other channels: commenting on a particular subject while watching a gameplay video.
This actually helps me go about other things because the gist of the video is usually in the audio not in the visuals.
Cheers for this.

I have had a nice RTFM shout out from a particular Doom community in spite of observing a manual written for experts rather then new comers. Because of that, I opt to ask little and search a lot. I, now, do not consider myself as a beginner neither as an advanced Linux user but someone who achieves only what is required for a comfortable computing experience. I consent, that, I have asked you some silly things and other more advanced, too.

:D

I can’t stand people that say any variation of “google” for this reason: I always find them as the only response to a thread from five years ago for a question I just GOOGLED

When I first started on Linux around 2005, the forums were great. Used to use the ubuntu forums all the time and get great help. Since then they've completely filled up with arseholes and you may well never get an answer to even a well posed question.

It's been such a pain software whise, first i had to tinker around for 2 days before finally getting everything to boot up cuz I had to change some BIOS and grup settings, then graphics where laggy and I couldn´t install new drivers, and now my system broke and I'm sittn here trying to save my data and keep going.
I don't wanna be spyed on but I pretty much need a usable machine
There's just such a flat learning curve and fustration pushed me back even more

Just found your channel and like it. I just started using Ubuntu 18.04 and keep having a problem that's not in the manual. If it is, I'm overlooking something. So when I logout and shutdown Ubuntu, I see the black screen, I believe you call it Grub2, and all of a sudden I see a bunch of broken script all over the screen. Goes by fast and then shuts down. Has this happened to you before? It's Dual boot for Win10.

"Billy" learning to drive a car and learning to use Linux is a good analogy which made your points easy to follow. Microsoft users are used to being "spoon fed" (users, not sysadmin's etc.) their OS and information so when they dip their toes into the Linux (OK GNU/Linux) environment they are confronted by CHOICE something an MS environment denied them!! In this respect the greatest strength of Linux, for newbies, is its biggest problem.
So as you say there are problems on both side of the argument, newbies who are unused to thinking for themselves and Linux "experts" who expect everyone to know the same as them.
My advise? Use MX Linux, maybe as a persistent usb installation whilst viewing the Dolphin Oracle YouTube stream B-)
