turned out really nice.  I had to smile when you said you made it for your daughter and she already put in an order for a headboard :))  I did the same with my Dad 40 some years ago.  After we finish our kitchen, I'm going to work on trimming up the chest my Dad made me when I was probably 5. Don't have the headboard anymore though.

I saw the spackle in the back ground.  Then I heard you say you use it to fill nail holes and small cracks.  A few months ago I made a cabinet for my daughter with junky scrap plywood and pine.  The plywood was rough and all the sanding in the world was not going to help. After a long debate with myself, I decided to use spackle knowing it was going to be painted.  Worked so well it is all I use to fill all my painted projects.  Thanks for the confirmation.

Jon, I'll have to place this chest on my my project list. Thirty-five or so years ago one of my first woodworking projects was a blanket/hope chest for a girlfriend, As I shake off just over 20 years of rust and dust from my woodworking skills this would certainly go a long way to reintroducing myself to old abilities, especially miter (mitre) cuts. If my daughter gives me the go ahead for a hope chest and my son does the same for toy box for my granddaughter, I will be a building a version or two of this chest.
On another note, the changes in your shop from this video to the current videos is incredible. As I work to reclaim my shop, I find your shop very inspiring.

Great timing. I just finished priming a small two-drawer table and noticed some imperfections. I thought I'd check Youtube while it dries and I find this. Thanks for the tip, Jon, I'll be putting it to use as soon as the table is dry.

I have been wanting to build a toy chest for sometime for my daughter and was looking for inspiration, this is exactly what I wanted, I am sure some reinforcements will be need for the bottom but thank you for this, amazing
