This looks great, and seems very straightforward. Quick, easy weekend project. I would like to see part 2.

This build reminds me a lot of the toy chest my grandfather built for me when I was 0-1 that I currently use as my woodworking chest. Kinda funny how it went full circle haha

Amazing work! would love to see part 2 like many others :)

Good idea to use tongue and groove! Makes it look neat and much easier than having to glue up big panels. Maybe round over the edges of the lid with a router or some aggressive sanding?

I’m a 95% hand tool shop, but wanted to make sure to tell you that I enjoyed this build as I have others. In the DIY content space, I think you’ve got a great balance between construction in the shop and the stereotypical DIY’s. Too many of them in the space suppose they’re building when most often they’re modifying. You’re clear and concise narration is well paced, includes a lot of value added tips, and all steps logically follow. You make building something from start to finish really accessible and I’m sure it’s inspiring to many DIY’ers to stretch. Thanks and I look forward to watching more 👍

Terrific quick project. Consider using cedar for the bottom, for all the wonderful reasons cedar has been used in chests for centuries. Or, if the budget allows, do this entire project in cedar, including routed tongue and groove work. Cedar inserts would also work, although it would add a lot of weight.

I think that this project is both fantastic AND useful in more ways than one.
It’s a great way of re-using found materials, ie. pallet wood, it’s useful for what it is: storage, and it could double as a coffee or end table.
The assembly process involved atypical methods that are certainly both adequate and simple.
Your solution for locating the screw holes for the lid is genius! Trying to balance the lid and mark the screw locations would be a juggling act by oneself and the choice of hinge type demonstrates how “less” can be “more”!
Overall, I see an absolute work of art! I imagine various finishes could be beautiful and hand painted or stenciled decorations would turn a simple box into a beautiful work of art!
I’m gushing because I’m so impressed by the simplicity and the results.
Absolutely beautiful!

I will use this build for my Grandkid/s. Loved the production - Kept my attention and got to the point. I loved every part of this up to the chain/hinge system, maybe a slow close hinge will work. Not worried about the chain as much as I am the top slamming down.

Part 2 would be great! I love the look of this, and might do it with tongue and groove cedar for a warmer look.

Quick easy and inexpensive build. This would be one of the rare instances where I would consider painting a project, I’ve never been crazy about the look of finished pine but interested to see how this turns out

I’ve seen your face on a couple of vid adds, this is the first one I’ve watched. Impressive, the simple chest is beautiful to those of us who love wood (and I have always). I miss making things out of construction lumber, so occasionally I go back to it. Your instruction is right on point…well done.

Nice idea, knocking the hinge pins out

Your wood chest design is really nice. Thanks for sharing! Another bell and whistle that I think would be cool to add to this chest would be to install 1" or 2" swivel caster wheels to the bottom.

This has to be one of the most informative videos regarding the use of pocket holes in relation to orientation...I enjoyed and was greatly informed. Thank you.
