I would have used a forstner or larger bit to countersink that massive head, then use some dowelling for plugs. At least you can sand and stain the plugs.

Nice. But, the box store lumber and Trex Enhanced isn't to strong. Clam Shell? .. Should've gone with .60 PT. Looks great though.

Looks good...Would love someone to build me a beck like that...looks good on the net but sadly some do substandard work ...I was cheated so many times I don't know who to trust...smh

Now all you need is graspable handrails.

Countersink the head of the screw…..then pug a plug in it, cut smooth, sand down, never ever know there’s a screw there.

Fasteners don't bother me, it's outdoor construction. I might have cut returns for the board ends though. Looks good, we're not all Norm Abrams. :)~

This set of stairs is great for people that don't mind seeing all the fasteners in different colors than the material, and are not in straight lines on the treads...😂😂

The coating on those timber locks looks janky... Hope they don't bleed

Putting them through the post and into the end of the railing isn't the right way to do it. You're putting it into the grain of that railing. You should do it so the screw goes through the railing and threads into the post.

Looks great. But man, get your countersink out. Takes almost no time and looks so much cleaner

Looks nice but the facts are this 16 penny coated sinkers...ie greater shear resistance and holding power....it take 3000 pounds to shear a single nail....imagine if there are four nails.
