The civil services preliminary examination, scheduled to be held on May 31, has been deferred due to the COVID-19-induced nationwide lockdown and the new date for the test will be decided later this month. The civil services examination is held annually in three stages, prelims, main and interview- by the commission to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS) among others. Lakhs of aspirants take the examination every year to be part of the coveted civil services. Meanwhile, the Staff Selection Commission, in a recent announcement, has informed that the Commission will be releasing the fresh dates of postponed exams only after lockdown restrictions are lifted completely from the country. The new dates would be out for SSC CHSL, SSC Junior Engineer, JE and stenographer exams that were to be conducted in the months when the lockdown was imposed. On this edition of The Big Picture we will analyse the way forward for competitive exams.

Very sad for these guests failed to address problems of rural aspirants like me who are preparing without coaching institutes and only rely online institutes like INSIGHTS IAS.

Age relaxation should be implemented for all candidates

Online exams would also require exam centers like that of offline system . It makes no difference in terms of mass gathering of people. Moderation of marks had always been a disastrous work

If upsc allow re selection of examination center then it would be a great help to the stranded students!.

Age relaxation must be given to students who have filled the form so that their future could be compensated as many aspirants were out of their age prescribed

gap of 4 month between mains and prelims should be maintained otherwise it will benefit those who gave 4-5 attempts, young and fresh aspirants will adversely affected

Mr. Ravindran said the righest thing amongst the other two!
Upsc should take the prelims on 23rd or 30th of august, & start mains from 18th december & conclude it by 27 th, & then commencing the interviews by 3rd week of march, & then concluding the process by april end, & by publishing the final merit list by 1st week of may, they will still be be able to conduct 2021 prelims ON TIME(1st june or so)...
Please, unnecessarily reduce the mains time period, it would be disastrous!

Mr Tripathi reamrked about optional subject that the practice of optional subject other than graduation should be done away. That is quite controversial. Because when the same student of medicine, engineering, commerce can study humanities in a year or so then why not optional because GS papers are also different from what they studied in graduation

Upsc will conduct 2020 prelims only after the completion of 2019 interview and final result.. Considering the current scenario 2019 interview may conduct in june last or in july.. It will take one month to publish the final result and calling for prelims 2020.. So most probably 2020 prelims may happen in august or even first week of september.. most probably upsc will give minimum 100 days for 2020 mains.. And they will publish the mains result bit early and conduct tje interview and publishing result will also make bit faster.. But not change radically.. This is my analysis

In the uncertain environment and Atmos of grapevines, this is a first half an hour discussion with helping us proving that at least till July, exam is not going to happen.
Respected Ravindran Sir, my one of the favourite and the great mentor is here with his balance views. And as a institute owner, he has only area to say is students preparatory level about offline and online way of exam.
Mr. Bhattacharya, A Good Media Man and Master in Trade related discussions, is out of context and just ready with hyperbolic views on conducting the exam online . He forgot that in nine Lacs of aspirants more than sixty percent are of rural background, and many haven't seen any metro city and not having digital infra but very up in the race with only conventional resources.
Mr. Tripathi, a bureaucrat is with very general views and just ready to discuss any of the topic above earth and under sun. None of new and outright ideas are expected from him.
Mr. Pereira know that he have to do any effort to break the glass, tried his best with his producer(s) to provide a plateform to knowledgable persons from fields. He is really awsm in his ideas and used to share on Insights. At least much better than TRP seeker private channels.

Overall, a good discussion, have much worth than gossips in electronic mediums either any forum or media itself.
