For decades, there has been no state-wide regulation on rest breaks to keep construction workers in Texas safe. Liberal Texan cities Austin and Dallas took matters into their own hands, passing local ordinances requiring 10-minute rest breaks every four hours. But last year, Texas passed a sweeping new law, prohibiting cities from enforcing or creating regulations that are stronger than the state’s in broad areas including labour and finance. CNA’s Toni Waterman reports.

I live in the US, and the some of the same people responsible for opposing mandatory rest breaks would not think twice about running into Starbucks to request for a cup of water for their dog(s) on hot days. I see it all the time when the weather is hot. It just goes to show what they think of their fellow man.

Remember this when you vote. Are you more scared of a book or not being loud to take a break in 100+ degree weather

This works right into the visions of our government, in general. Foster an environment that enriches the white man at the expense of...others. This is general but it's accurate.

I hope the workers leave that industry putting the screws to Texas.

😮🙏 What goes around will come around! Karma will manifest as sure as Birth, Ageing, Sickness & Death! That's why there are so few Heavenly Realm inhabitants as compared to those sardined packed Hellish sufferers ... Thank You So Much CNA for lending a voice to the overlooked & disposable! ... 🙏🕯🌍✌🕊

Hopefully construction companies continue to take care of their workers no matter what nationality they are! It’s important to have well being for all humanity! Then sun can be a dangerous thing in the heat of day. I believe it’s better to have a night shift to be more safe than working in the heat of day!
