Roe v. Wade | 410 U.S. 113 (1973)

In 1973, the United States Supreme Court issued its decision in Roe versus Wade. The effect of the Court’s ruling was immediate and far-reaching, expanding the right to privacy under the Fourteenth Amendment and altering the legal landscape on the issue of abortion across the country.

Norma McCorvey, a single, pregnant woman in Texas, sought an abortion. At the time, Texas law prohibited abortions unless performed or obtained to save the life of the mother. To protect her privacy, McCorvey filed suit in federal court under the name Jane Roe. The defendant was Henry Wade, the district attorney in the Texas county where McCorvey sought the abortion.

Roe argued that the abortion ban was unconstitutional and asked the court to issue an order that would stop Texas from enforcing the law.

The district court found the Texas restriction on abortion unconstitutional on the grounds that the statute was too vague and overly broad and impinged on the rights reserved to the people under the Ninth Amendment. However, the court didn’t issue an injunction to bar Texas from enforcing its ban, so Roe’s options in Texas didn’t really change. Arguing that the district court’s lack of injunctive relief was insufficient, Roe appealed directly to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade today( June 24, 2022), by saying “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives. Pp. 8-79.”

But 24 countries completely outlaw abortion, and 50 others ONLY permit it in medical emergencies. Y'all are blaming Americans, when there are much stricter countries out there. The US and UK do NOT speak for the majority of the modern world, try as they might. Besides, America's laws were much more lenient than European laws on abortion in any case.
"Meanwhile, the United States has, overall, more permissive abortion laws than almost anywhere else in the world. It is one of only seven countries — the others are Canada, China, the Netherlands, North Korea, Singapore and Vietnam — to allow elective abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, as The Washington Post’s Fact Checker column has confirmed."

If this was about babies, there would be universal healthcare. Free education. Free daycare. Southern states would be doing all they can to drop the black maternal mortality rate. This is about power and control.

POV: men can have babies and women couldn't.
Women would get gas chambered if they tried to control men's pregnancies.
People who think it's murder need to reflect a bit harder.
As a child who has been in the foster system with mentally ill biological parents, I no longer feel as though I was better off not being born. I only came to that conclusion because I had strength to rise up and make a better life for myself. Not all children are that lucky. Having the hardest punches thrown at you the moment you are born can DEFINITELY have you stuck in a complex reality/mindset. It can have you turn to the worst things possible and/or could make those terrible things find you without looking. Then you could grow up to become what scares you people. "Oh my neighborhoods not the same" "Why are there homeless people everywhere" "Look at these people who are making my country shit"
You are the same people that have power and funding to manifest organizations that can help unwanted children. Better quality foster care, free effective sex education for ADULTS (they really need that shit to exist), vetting for foster parents or care takers, better living, a higher rate of older children getting adopted, etc etc etc.
Yet we are here.
Life is strange.

Ok so the Supreme Court pretty much said this hasn’t been legislated so it goes back to the states. Isnt that how it’s supposed to work?

It did not explain much. I will still have to search and watch other videos to get an understanding of this ruling.

If a woman can abort the kid a man should be able to opt out of child support. Fair is fair equal is equal. I'm of the opinion the government shouldn't have the power it has today and shouldn't be involved in the first place.
