In this vide I sit down with Protestant Cameron Bertuzzi to talk about 7 things Protestants can begin doing RIGHT NOW without having to become Catholic.

Don't get me wrong. I think Protestants should become Catholic ... But these are 7 things Protestants shouldn't have a problem doing or believing right now.

Add to the list! What else can Protestants accept? And yes, yes, you as a Catholic think they should accept it all, but what I'm asking is what should they have no trouble accepting. There are many things that needlessly divide Protestants and Catholics. I offered 7 such things in the vid above. Would love your take!

In a tragic twist, Cameron is a better and more faithful Catholic than almost all the kids i went to Catholic high school with.

my grandmother would say that, faith.. without works is dead, that thru Christ and we are saved, and thru repentance are sins are washed clean.. being Born Again and declaring our faith in God's word.. we must strive to be like Chirst, in our works.. how we treat others and how to walk out our faith.. in a nutshell, it's like this.. you say that you are saved, and a follower of Christ.. then act like and get your hands dirty..

CS Lewis said that you have to get to know your own tradition before you can get to know other ones. Because you need a reference point from which to understand things.

I think a lot of Protestants are fairly clueless as to their own traditions. So it doesn’t really help to mix and match traditions into a Frankenstein church with no real understanding as to why your church rejected something in the first place. Perhaps it’s better to encourage Protestants to really dig deep into their own theologians and understand why they believe what they do about Catholic practices. If Catholicism is right, then there’s nothing to fear.

Thank you Matt and Cameron for these instances you two share a platform together. Honestly it is so VERY NECESSARY for us to see more examples of people who believe differently and yet respect each other enough not to assume the other is stupid, ignorant, less than or just a project of conversion. I really like the way you both give each other room to push back, set the record straight, clear up anything confused or misleading, etc. What a holy and Godly example you two have been here! I'm sure God looked down on this and smiled. It nearly brings tears to my eyes to see true holiness on display.

I posted this on Cameron's version, but as a High Church Anglican I approve of these! I'm still wrestling with the idea of Purgatory as well, but "The Great Divorce" has really opened me up to the idea (or to something similar to it)!

I watch these videos and I see how we should dialogue with Protestants in these videos. You share your faith and not back down from what we believe and are willing to teach it when you can.

I'm totally down with the idea of a new show with the both of you! With the ways things are these days it is nice to see two people calmly argue (which does not automatically mean fight) opposing points of view. This skill is something our world needs a lot more of. And heck....who can't like a guy that wears a Bob Ross shirt? I say you go for it guys!

Yes. Do it. You guys have a great dialogue together, and it is helpful to here this kind of interfaith dialogue so we can model our own dialogues from it. I would love to see a joint channel with you two.

Originally, the beads were worked through as one prayed the Psalms: one bead per Psalm.

Matt,

I’m not sure if this is something you do on your channel but I thought I’d ask anyway. As a former Calvinist and one who is looking more into Orthodoxy and Catholicism, I was utterly shocked by the amount of heresies embedded within Calvinist doctrine. These heresies are monothelitism, monoenergism, and nestorianism. What was also equally surprising to me is that some Protestants even accept the sixth ecumenical council despite being at odds with their belief of monergistic salvation. While Calvinism is one theological school which really centralizes monergism, I believe it is present in all Protestant denominations.

So....with that being said...it would be very interesting and helpful if you went through the councils with Cameron and your audience. These are all things every Christian should believe, but as you get further into the council you quickly discover that Protestantism does not withstand these orthodox councils. You have done this before when you stated that Protestants should be able to call Mary “Theotokos, ” yet many respond with Nestorian ideas of Christ’s two natures. The councils are essential to the faith and are the best evidence to show that the church cannot be the church with only sola scriptura.

Really like yall's dynamic. I want to get into Apologetics more seriously myself. It's pretty intimidating, the role and cross to bear. Pray for me!

Hi Matt. I love your work so much. Peaceful dialogue is the right way to settling our differences and understanding ourselves. You are indeed a Thomas Aquinas of our time.

A very well put together show. I loved the back and forth discourse. I would love to see more of this by the two of you.

Cameron, just wanted to tell you something, the Old English Word for talk is ‘pray, ’ so when we pray to Mary and the Saints, we actually talk to them to pray for us. Hope this helped.
