i am 1/4th lebanese from the US!! when my grandpa moved here, he purposefully white washed himself and his family. changed his name, never taught his family his countries traditions... 100 years later im trying my best to re-learn what i should have been taught. thank you!!

Dear Dakota,
In Lebanon, people learn the Lebanese Language at home and they study the Arabic Language at school. Many people to distinguish between those 2 languages they call the first Spoken Lebanese Arabic, and the second Written Arabic. As Hiiba already said in this video, the written language is not used in speaking form.If you study Latin but you want to go to Paris and speak with people. You will have to Learn the "French Spoken Latin" which is called nowadays the "French Language".

the standard one is used for writing and reading Arabic texts. i can tell you that standard Arabic gives you the general rules and the most important one.if you are only interested in the Lebanese dialect so you can skip the standard. but if you are going to the gulf counties maybe its better if you begin with the standard...

Thank you so much for these lessons! I recently found out that my grandmother, who was adopted, is half Lebanese, her mother was an immigrant to Mexico. I did not grow up with Lebanese language or culture, but I really want to learn everything so I can understand this part of me that is lost in time! :D

Lebanese is a fun one. This Arabic dialect is unique. Al- (the) becomes l-. Mixing Arabic, Aramaic, French, and English. Hi, kifak ça va? is a common phrase. Lebanese is awesome if you like get funky or mess with language ‘cause you mix in many languages.

I am from the US but there's a really good restaurant near my work and the people who own it are Lebanese. They are so nice! I am trying to learn some of their language to surprise them next time I go in haha!
