The Pentagon does not overpay. The American people do.

It's amazing how this hasn't changed in the 30+ years the media had been "uncovering" it.

Had a toggle switch break on a radio set when I was in the Air Force. Literally a 50¢ switch you could but at Home Depot, but the military made us but it through their supply chain from Raytheon…$700 they paid Raytheon for a 50¢ toggle switch. This is why your income taxes are outrageous! Call your congressmen and demand they fix this!

This is where the tax payers need to demand accountability.

Independence Day. Area 51, best line in a movie. "You really think a toilet seat cost $50, 000?"

Here's roughly how it goes. There's an old story of a government purchasing agent that was in charge of getting quotes to fix a fence at the government facility he works at.

First contractor quoted $800
Second contractor quoted $1200
Third contractor quoted $3800

The purchasing agent asked, "Why the hell did you quote $3800? That's way too high!"

And the third contractor replied, "$1500 for me, $1500 for you, and I'll pay the first guy to fix the fence for $800."

When we say we want to cut military spending, this right here is what we mean. Not de-arming our soldiers, not cutting veteran benefits, not ending reaseaerch - just ensuring that private contractors that work with our military stop getting handed blank checks

When it's not their money, they spend it as such!

As a former military contractor, I can assure you this is not a damn lie. Paying $4k for 40” tvs is standard. $600 for an alarm clock, standard. $800 for a wall mounted hair dryer, standard. $4k for a personal safe, standard. The list goes on.

My mother once told me a story about her brother, my uncle that worked in the navy doing the books for the pricing of all kinds of stuff, and that he was ordered by his superior officers to lie on the paperwork and bill so much more than what they were actually paying. She said that he hated it. It was a long time ago, and they are both no longer with us...but I believed her.

The problem is that nobody in the government is held accountable, so they keep on doing it. I've been hearing about hammers costing thousands of dollars back in the 80s and here we are 2023 and they're still paying way too much for items

They've been doing that for the last at least 40 years. Then they got to raise our taxes to pay for it. There needs to be serious auditing in our government ranks

The government does not pay - We, the Taxpayer pay.

We need a complete audit of our entire government - all of it. Every single corner, knook, and cranny.

There needs to be an accounting.

This is just not "gouging" - this is treason - and it needs to be treated as such.

I had to buy 2 dive knives for my submarine at $2, 000 a piece, but they're only $200 at a dive shop.
My captain couldn't believe it when i came to him with the purchase request.

They have to stop this bs. This is our tax money.

This is exactly why we can easily afford to slash the pentagon budget in half. What a waste of taxpayer dollars.

This kind of price gouging runs rampant throughout the military and federal agencies and has always blown my mind that it’s never been fully addressed. If you were to get this in check you would save the tax payers an unimaginably grotesque amount of money in the hundreds of billions of dollars. It really looks like people are getting away with padding their pockets in a lot of cases.

They don’t care about getting gouged because it’s not their money…. IT’S OURS
