I like what you say, I need a more structured instruction, my practicing has become scattered by watching various free videos

And if you haven't learned anything guitar related from this video, at least you now know what AT-AT stands for... impress your friends!

The pieces that I really learned in depth - I paid for. The time and detail put into each lesson by the instructors were well worth it.

Can you tell us how you feel about Yousician? Do you think it's a good way to learn? Pros and Cons?

I have being teaching student at school guitar lessons for the last year. 7 year old to 13 year old kids. Due to the Corona Virus the music school is now enforcing online classes with the teachers. This is new for me but i am exited.

Steve Stine has great free lessons, he is easy to understand and has some great exercices. If you do not learn from all the free stuff you wont learn from payed ether.

Ultimately, your best teacher is your listening experience, I'm talking about your hours upon hours of listening to actual guitar music.... you mold your playing style with it, lessons are just tools to get the work done.

The reason i want to, (i didnt do it yet..) but want to pay for an online course with Tyler here.
is mainly because i feel like i've hit rock bottom with learning for myself. I really feel like i need a teacher of some kind, to lead me through, step by step.. what to do. This is why it's worth it for me.

Yes, why pay an amateur hack level player with an incomplete understanding of music when you can learn from an amateur hack with an incomplete understanding of music for free?

Steve stine is probably the best teacher on YouTube. I learned more about guitar and even music in general from him in one week than in 6 months of playing

As a guitarist teaching myself and using internet for this.. I thought my opinion on this might help some beginners out there.

I never had a chance to get a guitar teacher here where I live so I just started watching videos on youtube.. and the fact about free online lessons is.. some of them are great.. but most not!
What I like about lessons that are not free.. on Udemy.com for example, you see a lot of different courses for guitarists.. and they DO help! Instead of you trying to find out what you need here for free.. just spend 15 dollars or euros maybe and get a course with great lessons you want.. and believe me it will make your life easier and happy. I had bought Musicisum course from Rabea, two courses from Tyler and one other guy.. Yes I spent 50 euros.. but I don't have any problems I had before ( bad habits, unhappy about my playing and so on..) I'm very happy about how fast my skills improve.. If I wouldn't be so lazy.. I'd already be a good guitar player but I'm lazy and so.. I still I am perfecting my skills on chord switching, scales, modes, barre, 9th and sus chords, string skipping and such stuff.. and all of this because of those great online teachers! I use free lessons also though! But only if I need some more help on one technique for example!
If you really want to be great guitarist and improve faster.. better choose high quality stuff! :)
P.S. I've been playing guitar now for only 9 months!

For sure Tyler is a great musician and a very good teacher, but to be honest many things beginners doesent realize they do wrong that they can't be listed in a Video. So somehow you can learn of course better if the teacher sees what you play and can show you individual what you do wrong.

As a beginner and a person who just picked up a guitar a few days ago, I paid for an online course mainly for the structure. It'd be way to easy for me to get lost in Youtube videos without having a structured way of learning. Although I still watch all the random Youtube videos and still try to learn from multiple sources, I do like having a program laid out for me to follow.

I also plan on taking in person lessons at Guitar Center just to be in an environment with experienced people who can critique me and have immediate feedback. I'm starting at 30 for the first time so it's all exciting for me. I'm committed to embrace the suck for a long time to come

This is a good review of free-online vs. paid-online; I'm wondering about online vs. in-person. I am an older beginner who took classical guitar lessons 20+ years ago. I know I have some conflicting habits from those pure-acoustic lessons (and/or from the two decades that have passed since then), and sometimes I wonder if an in-person teacher would spot them instantly and either correct them or adjust my technique to leverage them. (That said, I signed up for Guitar Super System a week ago, and am really liking it. Still working my way through the total beginner section!)
