Finally taking a look at the first chapter of Part 9 of JoJo: The JOJOLands.

Arguably, one of my favorite moments in this chapter is when Jodio is describing how despite being a delinquent, he's better off in a social standing than his usual class peers who are straight A students because the way he presents it isn't unlike the hilariously made Virgin vs Chad images, with the classmate even in the same head down walking position as the Virgin caricature, while Jodio takes on several "Chad" poses with over the top effects.

November Rain looks really unique among others protagonists's stands and I love it. We also finally get new colony stand. I wonder if suit type stand will also make appearence in this part.

Very interesting how non-humanoid Jodio's stand is. Early forms of Tusk weren't that humanoid either, I suppose, but this feels much different. Jodio as a whole feels very different to his predecessors. Dragona feels like one big part 6 reference, with bits of Ermes' desgin, Annasui's androgyny, and Smooth Operators also seems vaguely similar to Diver Down with it's ability to alter objects. Also, Dragona's a really cool name. Can't wait to see how this heist will go completely wrong and kick-start the plot

The line about Dragona "getting injections" but Jodio "never see's her take them" was an implication that dragona is on hrt, and isnt actually taking injections imo

After all the speculation, turns out Araki fell back on an old and trusted cliché; Jo and Dio. Outstanding.

An interesting coincidence I found was the connection between Bruno's stand name and Paco's ability. Sticky fingers is a phrase that describes someone who has a tendency to steal and Paco fits this definition as he loves stealing and his stand is primarily used for this. Considering the fact that Araki hasn't referenced Bruno in the new universe yet I'm holding out hope that Paco is the AU Bucciarati. I'm a big fan of experienced close combat fighters like Bruno who doesn't just rely on their abilities and this is getting into major speculation territory but Paco seems to fit this trope the most as his stand is deceptively simple and kind of underpowered like Sticky Fingers and he seem to be the most physically capable of getting into a fist fight because of his physique and confidence in his hand to hand combat skills shown when he challenged Dragona to settle their dispute by fighting.

After reading the first chapter, this is all I have to say to our new protagonist: welcome to the family, Jodio.

Fun fact: Jodio name is close to being translated as "Fucked Up" in spanish. In other words, Jodio Joestar can be "Fucked Up" Joestar.

Jodio knows he’s the shit and I love it, small thing but I love that we kept the jojolands as a title, people were saying it was just a placeholder but it’s so good

It’s interesting seeing a Jojo with such a spicy personality, tho after rereading chapter 1, it’s clear to see there’s more intrigue and depth in him, just like all Jojo characters

It's a breath of fresh air to see Hawaii represented in a new manga particularly my favorite series and it's beautiful to see places I was born and raised illustrated to perfection by Araki. He clearly did his homework and even has Jodio refer to the states as "The Mainland" like we do.
