Your videos are my road map. It’s not the actual artistic process that you display. It’s the motivation. You told me (through a video) “if you don’t like your painting at the start keep adding layers. Keep adding because black is not black but a reflection of the colors around it.” I was ready to throw out my work and I did what you said. Keep adding layers. And it blew me away. You said (paraphrasing) “ you can’t expect your work to look the same as someone who has had far more practice” that kept me from giving up THANK YOU. You made me better.

Lisa, everything you say is so true. These truths and steps are not only apply to our art world, but they apply to every aspect of life. I have heard from others that 'If you don't write down specific goals, they become just wishes.'. These five steps are key steps to success on anything we wish to accomplish. it only takes dedication and a commitment to 'do it', and 'do it, now'.

You are so spot on Lisa, and this is from a 71 year old female senior citizen from the UK. You are a very talented young lady with a wise head on you. Thank you for sharing your work. I've been following you for about six months, and you do inspire me to keep going even at my advanced age. Thank You

I'm semi-disabled retired - I have good days and bad days. On good days I work on any of several drawings I have in progress - I work til I get stuck or seem to be going backwards, then either shift to a different part of the drawing or to a different drawing. On bad days I do exercises like color squares and color blending, do tracing work to prepare for a drawing, or go through my directory looking at photos I've downloaded for future use. Sometimes I open them in photoshop, explore the colors and values - looking for things that will either be a challenge and thinking about how I might go about drawing it. Sometimes I do a tracing in photoshop to explore the shapes. I also spend time at different photo galleries (free for members) looking for stuff that I might want to draw some day or include in a drawing. I save photographers whose work I like, I read tutorials and watch videos. Having that directory full of photos I downloaded because I liked something about them, makes getting going easy, I have to hamper myself from starting too many before finishing! I don't plan on being a professional artist but I do enjoy it.

I think if it wasn't for you and all your wonderful videos, I may never have had the courage to give an art career a real shot. And now I am. Thanx Lisa!

Some one told me many years ago that if you want to make something happen or if you want to get someone to do something for you- ask a busy person rather than someone who has a lot of free time. Busy people make things happen those with too much time on their hands never get around to doing anything. Life has taught me that this is one of the truest things and you are living proof of that. Keep up the great work Lisa ;-)

A wonderful video. Some great tips. I have actually found that making videos for YouTube has helped me to keep painting. Setting that schedule for myself to upload two and soon three videos a week keeps me on track to keep painting.

thank you so much for this video. I used to tell myself I couldn't do certain things with my art. I kept it simple and never improved. After ten years or nor of not drawing, I've improved drastically over the last 4 months. I DO want to make this happen and I smack myself when my mind tells me I can't. you can do anything you set your mind to, people! believe it!

Thanks Lisa for another great video. Just the kick up the backside I needed. I have spent the last six hours procrastinating about the commissioned pieces I have to get done and did I work on them...NO, I decided to paint my whole studio instead. I have written down my goals now so starting tomorrow I am doing ART lol, thanks again and keep the great videos coming xx

That is the best advice no matter what you would like to achieve. Especially no.4 Stop making excuses. No.5 really does go along the no.4 Write your goals down. Do not procrastinate stop putting off until tomorrow that which you can do today.
