Love this scene, Tom walking back and witnessing the ugliness of the family he's willing to go to prison to protect. A cousin hoisted on the shoulders of men shouting his name because he's suing a charity, and the family upstairs deciding who will be the next president. Brilliant and disturbing

This scene with Tom is so brilliantly set up. It feels like he's at a crossroads. Does he grow a spine and walk, or does he stay and continue with the humiliation?
Shiv sitting there like a man...a very deliberate pose she strikes. He really has no "place", other than being the doormat. It's so hauntingly good, this scene

Don’t forget that in season one Tom wanted to do the right thing and get ahead of this but was bullied into this situation.

Tons instincts were also right. If he had done a press conference and come forward with the issues well ahead of time it all might have gone well.

Now he’s likely going to prison after being bullied into submission.

Oh he’s an asshole, but he represents all of us. The audience.
The dream of one day making it big to that level and the belief that when we become like then we can be a part of that echelon of society.
It’s a lie.

Brilliant episode. A little slow in terms of action, but absolutely instrumental in terms of character development and pressure building. I think this episode signifies either the beginning of the end for Tom or an entire shift in his attitude towards Shiv and Logan. I hope it’s the latter.

Ugh when Tom walks to the room, the music, the meeting, Logan and his heirs surrounding the potential POTUS hearing their strategies, even the way Shiv is sitting as the sinister/dramatic music plays while looking at Tom... THIS SHOW IS SHAKESPEARIAN. A MEDIEVAL TIMES / FIGHT FOR THE KINGS THRONE SHOW IN THE MODERN AGE. ITS BRILLIANT.

This season, it seems like Tom is realizing how wicked the family really is.
There is some kind of redemption arc going on for him and I'm loving it. As the series began, I thought Tom was one of the worst but as the show progressed it became pretty clear that he is the only one who has still some kind of moral compass. Yes, he is flawed and can be a toxic douche but he is also capable of true loyality and compassion. You can't really say the same about any of the other family members - except maybe Connor to some extent.
Tom was always kind of relatable because you can comprehend how he got to this place in his life. He is a social climber who still feels like he isn't really fully accepted in this circle (which he clearly isn't) and who was willing to do everything to be a part of it - at least until now, it seems.
It'll be interesting to see what he'll do next!

Everything about this scene is beyond brilliant. The context (Tom returns after assuring Kendal he'll lose), Tom walking and realizing how disgusting politics and power actually are while being trapped within the same family, the lavish place, the intense and tragic music and Shiv's gaze. So powerful and haunting. Cant wait for the score to be released
