Gel cleaner has been proven to leave traces of the gel material on your stylus when magnified leaving it much worse than just dust and over the long-term ruining your stylus.

The brush is your best option.

I've heard the gel cleaner can leave a residue on the stylus. Have you had any issue with that?

Weird....I've been using an old toothbrush for the last 35+ years and have perfect results.

I'm using the Winyl stylus duo clean . 1 solution for cleaning the stylus and solution for cleaning the brush. I have also a dry brush vor quick cleaning

I’m positive the advice with that brush being demonstrated is just let the needle sink in to the bristles, the brush is tightly packed and shouldn’t be dragged on the stylus, I just bought an electronic stylus cleaner and is the same idea with similar brush head that vibrates and it works a treat

Just use a small makeup brush with a 60 40 solution of distilled water(60) and rubbing alcohol(40). I've been doing this for years. Never hurts anything, just brush from back to forward.

Strange, I just use the same carbon fibre brush I use to clean the records. No special tool require. And if I keep my records clean I clean the stylus about once a month.

The gel cleaners leave residue over time as they age and it's difficult to remove. I'd stick with Method 1 & 3

2 of those methods don't work on turntables that start spinning the moment the arm leaves its cradle, like our old 1960s B&O.

You brushed the stylus correctly as you told the viewers to brush "backwards and forward", which is a great way to damage the stylus/cantilever. Quite irresponsible!
Also, magic eraser can weaken the bond between the cantilever and the stylus.

Trying to clean something with a dirty brush seems self defeating .
Buy a cheap toothbrush to keep it and any record cleaning pads clean.
