My daughter loved the giver, we ended up reading the rest of the collection. She also had a cool interpretation that the story was about virtual reality not set in the past but the future. It gave me a whole change of perception.

Scythe is definitely a perfect trilogy! It became one of my favorite series ever. So excited for my kids to be old enough to read

Rocky!!! My eighth grade son loved Rocky as much as I did - his interpretation of the English language is wonderful.

Scythe is absolutely fantastic! I hadn’t ever read it until this summer before we started school, and I ended up having to get Thunderhead and The Toll before I finished Scythe! My 14 year old son began reading it, and literally devoured all three books in the span of a week and a half or so!!

Animal Farm is another fantastic Dystopian story that my 14 year old loved reading last year.

I feel that pressure of my last 8th grader. The “5 more years” you said….it just keeps swirling around in my mind. Ugh.

You’re going to have an amazing year. I love all your recommendations, she will too for sure. Thanks for sharing, I can’t wait to read some of those with my son, very, very soon.

The Giver, Watership Down, A Wrinkle in Time 😍 Eva sounds heartbreaking but intriguing....and never read The Book Thief but have to now for sure and I also love homeschooling as well

My youngest is in the 8th grade too and my oldest is almost 21. I know how you are feeling because I am trying to get in as much as possible before she flies away too! Great list! We had some of the same on our list but I wrote down a few of your suggestions as well. I think my daughter would like Endangered and Macbeth as well. Thanks for the suggestions.

We’re doing The Martian this year and I’m looking forward to introducing project Hail Mary to my kiddos one day as well!

You made me all nostalgic at the end there and we've just barely gotten started on our journey 😭😭

1. I was listening with headphones for the first time and kept hearing whining and was SO CONFUSED. Then I realized it was the dogs 😅 I thought something was wrong with the neighbor's mower. Oops.

2. The whole "nearing the end want to get the most out of it" is REAL. I am looking at A's next year already and like ???

3. I hope she LOVES PHM. It's such a fantastic book.

My 13 year old daughter is starting much ado about nothing as her first Shakespeare this year. I think that’s actually the first book/play study we are doing this school year.

Oh my goodness, how do you have time to read all the books? I need to figure this out. I feel like I have soooo much for all my middle school boys every day that I can't read loud every day :(
