Yes! I was on an 8 year running streak, doing at least a mile for it to count. Unfortunately that came to a stop when I unexpectedly found out I had stage 4 colon cancer - I’d been an athlete my entire life, ate right, but it can happen to anyone. Turned out my diagnosis was genetic (lynch syndrome) and worth testing for if you have had a family member diagnosed. Sorry for the random /PSA

I ran while going through chemo and most of treatment, only taking time off after surgeries. Two weeks ago I started my daily running again. It just feels right, and I’m even more grateful for just being able to do this simple activity - a life changing habit if you want it to be.

strongly agree on this I just did my 53km Ultra in Thailand last June 4 and it was brutal. Out of 354 runners who signed up 98 are DNF’s luckily I finished it. The fact that I never ran a full marathon and immediately signed up for an Ultra is not a good idea. But with proper training and dedication plus mindset during the race is the key. Nothing is impossible!

Biggest advise I would give to new runners is finding your pace. A lot of people hate running and stop because they push themselves too hard early on. I recommend finding your pace and then when you run more and more, you can start to push it. Personally I always start my runs slower and then really push myself the last mile or mile and a half.

Ran my first Marathon last year in Japan at 47 years old. Never thought I’d do one but so glad I did! Now I’m hooked !

I’ve run a couple marathons and 1 ultra. I’m a firm believer in if you truly want to find out some shit about yourself train and do an endurance race. When everything in you from the neck down is telling you to stop you really find out some shit about yourself. Are mentally strong enough to say fuck that and keep moving forward to the finish line. Pain is temporary. Be a 1%er.

I ran a marathon, then walked to my car. I count that as my ultramarathon

I just ran my first ultra yesterday (34 miles), and it was a GRIND! Also to everyone reading this, incorporate some type of leg strength workouts in your routine. Ultras are usually trail runs, and those ups and downs rekt my quads (I only run on road and was not expecting those climbs). Its very doable though, thanks for the videos jeremy!

Great clip mate! I started running at 50yo in 2021 and ticked off my first ultra in under 3 years. Your advice & tips here are perfect. Keep it up.

I did my first ultra this weekend I've had an ankle injury, but there didn't seem to be any issues in training. Get to race day twist my ankle mile 19. I did another 3 miles before the pain had gone to my hips and knees. I dropped out at mile 22 to save my self from more injury, but it does stink not finishing the race.

I can walk 25k on a city trip walking around seeing sights in regular ol‘ Vans, but put me in running shoes and suddenly I’m completely dead after 10k 😅

I'm in the .005 percent.

I ran 26.2 miles just for fun (not an organized event) and then I proceeded to tell no one about it.

Thank you I’ll be 55 next week and my interest in running has gone through the roof. I’m doing a 5 k in Aruba next week also I’m very interested in working my way up to running a full marathon within the next two years. Any constructive advice and knowledgeable inspiration could really help, thank you.

Ran 22.3 miles on a trail today. My PR for distance. My time was extremely disappointing but in time I'll get that endurance built up better and time will naturally improve.

Absolutely nailed it. The patient part and doing something hard each day was incredibly helpful when prepping for our 100s

68 Km trying to run the 160 Km Berlin Wall for my 50th birthday. Didn't practice nutrition on the run, but I did complete a marathon every week for four months in training.
