Fun fact: Whale Sharks throats are the size of a quarter, so it can’t eat humans. And it also won’t since it only eats plankton and shrimp, it’s a filter feeder, and a gentle giant!

Hi everyone, I'm is a father of the two children in the video. I've seen some reactions from people regarding this video.
for that I want to clarify, I'm a tour guide who first introduced whale shark tourism in Saleh Bay Sumbawa / Indonesia.
first I didn't know that someone had taken a video about my kids playing with whale sharks.
I totally know and agree. it's not good to touch whale sharks directly.

But I want to tell you guys, that I am a whale shark conservation volunteer in Indonesia.
sometimes we also ride on their backs to tag satellit. the goal is to get scientific research results.
so I hope not to overreact to them. they are children learning in nature. They are under my full control.
I want to apologize for this incident, I took children to nature to observe and learn by firsthand about whale sharks in the wild.

Would love to swim with them...a baby whale shark aged around 9 months went to fishermen for help ..it's mother and 2 others were caught in fishing nets...the captain jumped in with a filleting knife and spent 40 mins cutting them free .. they were near death but he saved them How that boat captain must of felt I have no words for but every day for 17 days the whale sharks would wait for his boat and greet him.... What a feeling that must of been...I saved a basking shark of the Western coast of Scotland in winter in just shorts cutting line and net from a basking shark about 6 to 7 meters and about a 1000lb and that was a once in a life time always said the fishing industry should report lost nets and pay a small amount each for divers to clean up nets and plastic bottles etc...i watched a video last week where 7 adult whale sharks drowned caught in nets that were caught on a shipping wreck 70 meters under water..it was so Sad to see.... Mankind destroys the planet and the creatures that have no impact on the planets destruction.... Asian countries should be fined for hunting whales and sharks for delicacy when there are enough resourceful types of fish to catch ...

The whale shark isn’t asking for pets, it’s filtering, it’s a way of eating for them. They feed on planktons and krill’s, by opening their mouths near the surface. If it moves away, it means you’re disturbing it.

Beautiful...i would have been way too paranoid to let my kids even as older teenagers get so close to the edge.. especially the little girl even has one leg over.... gives me all sorts of anxiety.. cuz that water is deep

Touching whale sharks or even petting them a bit is bad for them so these kids are wrong and even though they are kids don’t let them touch it it’s bad for them.
