Is Islam Judaism? Mind Blowing Interview With Professor Reuven Firestone

Our quest in this episode is to spell out what Islam is and how it may have developed in the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century. I found this to be my favorite episode so far in recording scholarship on Islam.

My humble request to Derek invite Ali Ataie or Adnan Rashid to discuss about Islam.

I am an American Muslim and I appreciate this very much.
The Rabbi and your content and context of Islam comparable to other abrahamic religions.
I found peace and solice in Islam.
It changed me into a very calm and content person with having the least but feel full and complete.

May every one find their way to the Almighty with love and peace.

Islam is truly misrepresented in the west.
It’s lost treasure if you willing to find it.

The vibes, the amount of knowledge he shared, the choice of words, and everything are remarkable. It's like i just attended 3 different classes with multiple professors simultaniously. What a man Dr. Reuven Firestone is. Thank you for doing this interview. May you live a long life so many more people can learn from you. I hope one day i can meet you and have a bit of a chit chat regarding these things

"The Road to Mekah" by M. Asad is worth reading for Westerners to understand Islam through the eyes of an Austrian Jew who converted to Islam.

The Rabi is dignified and so polite . I pray that he continues his good work and takes the leap and embraces Islam.

Same prayer for the host .

Great interview. I would like to add something that the Professor surprisingly maybe forgot to add as he has extensive knowledge, but its actually critical. It is that yes Jihad does mean struggle and he did mention its other forms such as striving for the sake of the community, but the most important Jihad for Muslims is the struggle against oneself. The struggle against your desires, destructive thoughts and habits, your 'inner demons' and so on. The struggle against taking the easy road, the struggle to be disciplined. That is the real Jihad.

Xenophobia and tribalism are definitely huge obstacles when it comes to this human experience, especially the more interconnected we become

As a Muslim, I can't help but notice the striking similarity between the Ravi's appearance and orthodox Muslims. The beard and his shirt.

Thanks for this podcast, i found it's so educative. I'm a sunni muslim, knowledge seeker. Peace for all of you, hope our God, Allah (Yahwe, Elohim) gives you all Hidayah, Amen. Under Abrahamic religion, we are united that Our God is one, our father is one (Adam), and we all will be gathered on the hereafter.

I want to really thank you both for this fantastic episode. I as a Muslim have enjoyed it very much. For the first time in my life I listened to a reasonable way of thinking about the 3 monotheistic religions. You’re doing a great job, keep it up 🎉

This was a balanced discussion, this is the first time I have heard a Rabbi speaking without prejudice about Islam, Judaism. Excellent interview.

As a Muslim, this was quite a fascinated interview to listen to. The Rabi is truly knowledgeable and would love to read more of his work. I feel he portrays aspects of Islam which normal people do not know much about and probably even does a better job at it than some Islamic academic scholars.
