I just drove from Maine to Columbus OH and back. Apple Maps kept taking me on back back back roads and through residential areas. I have it set on "avoid tolls" to keep me out of Boston and New York, but it REALLY made me avoid those tolls! Good video once again. I love how you get to the point and give honest, real reviews.

So this is a weird hack but maybe you could try connecting to a hotspot briefly while you hit play on the downloaded movie? Would it then play? Then once it’s playing switch to airplane mode?

I can not say about new I pad but back in day I hooked up a A/V cable from 30 pin to I Phone 4 to toy projector at friends house. I used apple downloaded movies and only work in SD and Netflix workes great too. Now usb c to hdmi I can not say because to my knowledge apple only works for video out to there cords. Back then 30 pin to A/V or 30 pin to composite. Good luck trying different things. Good video keep it up.

Have you tried a different HDMI cord? Some of them have some sort of video protection playback (HDCP encryption, I think). A high quality HDMI cord may solve your problem, maybe …

Weird. My streaming apps ONLY play on my external display if I have it hooked up.
