Just finished this book and I'm scouring booktube for people talking about it because none of my friends have read it. I really like how you two took the time to really talk about it, it really scratched my itch for some quality book discussion. I agree with you that it was a really interesting, creative, and insightful book.

On the subject of Kasia's newfound powers, I took her strength and resilience to be because she's part tree now. I can't remember when, but they said at some point that beneath her flesh you could feel a hardness like wood.

However, one thing that did go unexplained that mildly infuriated me was the Dragon's apparent ability to read minds. There are a few moments in the book when Agnieszka is thinking something in her head and the Dragon responds to it out loud (one of those instances actually came right after the quote you read about soldiers being human). Unless I missed something, it's never even aknowledged by any of the characters, but I wish it was because it raises so many questions. Was he always able to read her thoughts? Did he know when she was thinking about defying him? When she was feeling attracted to him? When she was briefly contemplating murdering him??? I kept waiting for it to be explained and it never was.

But anyways, great video. You have a new subscriber.
