Finding Underground Wires Yourself | No Extra Holes Dug, Very Accurate, You Can Do It Yourself!!

In this video I'm going to show you how to precisely and accurately locate underground wires using this tool. This allows you not to have to call 811 and keeps you safe from hitting any live wires. This tool is inexpensive and can be used for other aspects of tracing wires as well.

Notice several people saying you need to call 811, 811 will not locate powerlines from your barn to your house from your breaker box out to your front fence. They were only trace phone lines, Internet, line and main power underground line.

Good knowledge to have but people ALWAYS call 811, the service is free and in the event of damage to a service or communication line marked in the wrong place the repairs will be free. Not all underground will be marked since not everything underground is documented but will reduce the risk considerably ….

Live wires are not the only one buried danger. There are also gas, water, sewer, and probably more lines you want to avoid hitting.

I bought a cheap one at harbor freight but it loses sound as soon as the line goes into concrete. You think a better unit would help?

Wouldn't you open, the circuit. If you turn the breaker off. It seems like you would break the line, and not able to detect the run.

How can I find the 7200V line going to the distribution transformer? They don't believe it is where it is - I want to make sure. Can I detect the magnetic field?

How on earth do you find a " break" in the line? Anyine know? I found my wire no problems, but this tool is supposed to help fund a break/bleed in the line?!?!

Just call 811 its free, I do sometimes while I am driving ground rods. Dont take the chance of hittting something else.

Take note...The amazon link says that this will not work on stranded wire. have you been able to test this to be true? or was the wire you worked with not stranded?
