Nothing beats consistency, you have to see your goals as mandatory not optional

1) make a plan -
2) create milestone - the little things do matter keep track when you reach a milestone, make it feel like an event
3) actually make time for your goals
4) only worry about the present moment don't worry to much about the future
5) stop negotiating with yourself - we instinctively try to avoid pain
6) Revisit your goal often - why you choose to pursue it what would your life look like when you finish.
7) forgive your failures - don't dwell on the past mistakes just focus on the present self. What happened to make me lose my consistency how can I make sure it doesn't happen again.
8) Do it anyway - goals are tough if it was easy you won't care so much about them cultivate inner resolve.

As a musician, my favorite saying is this:
"The Beatles were turned down hundreds of times. HUNDREDS OF "NO's!
It only takes ONE "YES" to break through that ceiling...and look what they achieved!"

Consistency is really what I struggle with the most — motivation is fickle, and if it goes away I don't push myself.
Incredible video and great tips!

10 Cardinal Principles to learning:

1. Planning & Premeditations - Before starting a goal, break it down into smaller scopes and address the goal in small steps at a time. Premeditate every potential proceeding regarding the pursuit of your goal, including barriers, personal deficits, worries, fears, doubts, and failures, while maintaing the courage to get on with it.

2. Fundamentals/Foundations - Mastery of the fundamentals and foundations is key to strengthening information and understanding advanced materials, it helps develop a more refined connection between information.

3. Conscious Logical Process - "Think Like A Genius" Train this separately through tasks that require the use of logical thinking, this also involves intuition and the subconscious mind. Study Subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Philosophy & Psychology or alternatively read lots of books, difficult ones.

4. The subconscious, Background Information, and Intuitions - These are where most of your learning will take place and where intuitions are born - Marinate and immerse your mind in information oriented to your goal and you will obtain fuller understanding and clarity.

5. Focus and Attention - Maintain sustained focus and attention to the larger and smaller scope of your goals, be mindful; do not let yourself become distracted by things that are irrelevant to the goal.

6. Fail - Develop the courage to fail - Invest in your portfolio of failures until you succeed, each failure brings you closer to success. You get better by being inefficient, slow, and bad, so take your time and enjoy the ride.

7. Growth Mindset - Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable, Embrace the struggle and thrive on discomfort, enjoy challenges, and derive pleasure from the protraction of effort. It may be difficult, but everything is difficult at first also, avoid comparing yourself to others, and work at your own pace - someone is better than you simply because they have spent more time and focus on those things than you did, it is not an indicator of a lack of ability.

8. Persistency, consistency, and Iteration - Maintain behavior, Keep going until you have succeeded, keep repeating until you have achieved your desired results, whatever you do.

9. Raw Practice - Focus less on theory and more on practical practice - practice makes perfect, practice a lot, and reinforce those connections.

10. Positive Attitude - It's a long journey, might as well sit back and enjoy the ride.

The way you do the Skillshare ad at the end is one of the best natural and real promotional ads I've seen in a long while.

I’m finding this to be the best self help channel on YouTube. I’m in my mid 40’s and have found myself wanting to pursue a new direction in life. I let myself get caught in the “comfortable” trap, and I’ve been stuck for far too long. Your videos have been opening my eyes to where my weak points are. Thank you for what you do.

I was the part of student D who did 20% of homework but was one of the top student in class. But it fucked me over in adult life because I never develop the habit of hard work.

Forgive your failures is such an important tip! It is what kept me going on my weight loss journey and succeed.

'You don't have to be excited to do it. Just do it'. That's right. Consistancy leads to achieving your goals. Think about it, like write journal, forgive yourself when you lose track. Since it helps you do your chores like a habit and unconsciously like brush teeth. Focus on present and dont care too much about the past after you already find out the solution for your mistakes

I've heard (and even given) these advices so many times, yet have fallen so many times into traps...
Now I believe it's essentially for three reasons (n. 1 and 2 are linked to one another, but 2 & 3 are really the main ones) :
1. That "negotiation" thing you mentioned halfway through the video. But there's a reason I negotiate, and that leads us to the second reason...
2. Trying to avoid BOREDOM. I think one needs to "embrace the boredom" of exercising every day. I'm over 40 now, and I finally understood that the biggest challenge for me, what causes the biggest pain in daily efforts after a while, is actually not the physical one, nor the amount of concentration it demands... It's really the "repetitivness" of it that's the most challenging. and I've tried avoiding that pretty much all of my life 😒... It's almost a miracle I managed to accomplish things given the amount of time and effort I've put in trying to avoid boredom. But now I am starting to accept the idea that in order to get things done, boredom is unavoidable. What helps making it acceptable is knowing that you have allowed a bit of time in your day for the unexpected, the surprise, the non-boring. And also things like the practice of "mindfulness"... All in all, "accepting/embracing the boredom/repetitivness of daily exercises" is an exercise in itself.
3. Setting too many goals at the same time/ Working simultaneously on too many goals.
I'm more and more convinced now that in order to be successful in anything, one needs to narrow down his/her goals to a very limited number of goals in a specific time frame...
The only thing is I still don't know what is that limited number and/or how to find that out 😐😕...
If any of you more experienced people out there knows this and would be happy to share your knowledge on this, I'd be extremely grateful 🙏
