Major Depression and depression are different (Major Depression is a clinical form of depression while depression is long term sadness and lack of motivation)

im willing to bet that depression actually occurs in the same rate in men, possibly even more, society has put men down for feeling "feminine" or "weak" emotions and refuse to acknowledge them, especially in more traditional societies...

also these are obviously reported numbers, there is most definitely more depressed people who doesn't know, not seeking treatment, or refuse to acknowledge depression and is hence not reported
