I passed the OSCP on my first attempt, after purchasing the 90 day lab time -- but I trash it every chance I get (come at me Offsec). I passed it in 8 hours because I used the superior training from HTB Academy and TCM Security to pass it. It's silly that I paid $1, 600 but had to use outside resources to pass the exam. I didn't go for their bonus points, I didn't use their material -- and I pwned their exam

I paid for the OSCP and was so disgusted with the materials provided that I walked away and moved on to TCM and HTB's offerings.

The CPTS is FAR superior to the OSCP because it offers EVERYTHING the OSCP does and more. And it costs less than a third of the OSCP.

Also, OffSec is very quick to revoke certifications. I think overall the company is headed into the toilet based on the fact that they just laid a bunch of people off.

CPTS is also now being mentioned on job descriptions, so there's that as well.

Never taken OSCP, never even studied for it. But if you can't pass an exam with just the material that is provided for $1600 is Someone at offsec is cooked

Hot take: I've learned more from failing OSCP, than I have passing any other exam.

Honestly as someone who has the ejpt, pnpt and ecppt, I would love to try my hand at the OSCP. The only thing that scares me from taking it is the extremely high cost with high rate of failure from what I've read.

I got my PNPT 6 months ago and I just got my OSCP 15 days ago so I feel like its rights for me to compare them a little bit right now. PNPT does not cover what OSCP covers, PEN-200 is a bit broad than PNPT. PNPT focuses primarily on AD and the other one focuses on a lot more things other than just AD. I mean the exam is 60% AD but still the things I learned in OSCP was very very valuable for me, maybe its just a subjective thing but still I personally felt like OSCP did teach me the offensive mindset of tackling things. To each their own, but still I would never say that OSCP is trash, the opinion of saying that is trash imo XD.

In my opinion there are two major problems with the OSCP right now:
1. It is pricing itself out of most normal peoples range
2. They are not allowing the use of generative AI

It is still the industry standard, but I personally think that will change pretty quickly if people stop paying for it and they refuse to adapt to the tools of the future.

People want it is because in the states is most have for HR purposes. The reason people hate the certification because it does not align with todays technology. I like the cert but it's in major demand. This was conversation with the offsec team a while back.

The OSCP training material is seriously lacking for the cost

Good question. But even if it was a free as Richard Feynman said: "Knowledge isn't free. You have to pay attention."

I am currently enrolled in the oscp, opted for the one learner option and I have no regrets, it’s valuable and I have no problem paying for it whether I pass it or not

not everyone wants shit for free. offsec should at least look into PPP options globally or provide some discount if someone is taking it as an individual as opposed to enterprises/organizations paying for their employees. or make it an enterprise only option and then charge whatever they want. breaking into security field is hard without OSCP since thats all recruiters/HR know. and another thing is they dont provide any feedback on failure

Because if you spend more than 1000 on something and you regret it, maybe you are probably not going to admit it. Cause you dont want to compromise future opportunities on something you and others are supposed to find valuable. That said Im still planning on studying for it.

I think people want free samples so they can see if material or tools are the real deal rather than falling once again for marketing hype.

Good Video

"Why do people hate the OSCP"
1. It costs money, alot of money.
2. They failed the OSCP.
3. TCM built there brand on bashing the OSCP, and thus their fans now live to bash the OSCP.
4. Because for any of the above reasons, they cant get it, dont want to, or whatever the case may be. They feel the issues this causes for breaking into the Industry and therefor get even angrier.

Oh and Joe Helle does in fact have his OSCP. They built their brand off trashing Offsec, and they continue to do so daily, nothing more.

Lets be honest though, you can spend around £200-300 and get the CPTS which is more comprehensive. The only downside is the recognition you get from OSCP

The complaints sound childish people with 4 year degrees don't complain about classes that they find irrelevant.
