My Overland build - 5th Gen 4Runner

Показать описание
This is a brief overview of what I’ve done to this 4Runner since taking ownership in 2021.

- This build was tailored to my overland and off-road adventures. We take frequent trips consisting of half day local trail rides to week long excursions above 11,000ft elevation.

- Budget was kept in mind during the entire build process! All labor was done by me with the exception of a friend here and there for a 3rd or 4th hand.

- Every single piece and part on this 4Runner has been purchased and funded by me, minus the rear track bar and (upcoming) upper control arms which were provided by Inspired Overland.

Nice!! I have a 2019 4 runner SR5 in Nautical Blue. King shocks, 17x9 SCS Ray 10 brushed copper on 275 70r17. Nice to hear other SR5 owners talk about how capable they are compared to the Off Road trim!!

Looks beast! I just decided on the Creston rack for my overland build.

Im no expert, but Ive seen videos about the trackbars and they need to remain level. They installed lift kits for them. Otherwise a sick mod... beautiful, love the tailgate.

Looks dope! I mounted my rear reservoirs a bit higher with extra nuts and bolts so it would be outta the way from the tire

Nice work - did you also have to do a BMC for those tires to fit?

Really sweet build, man! Love it. I, too, run the -38mm offset with spidertrax spacers.

Panhard bar: it's pronounced PUH-NARD (after the French auto company). Ideally, you should either raise the axle mounting point or lower the frame mounting point to get the bar parallel with the axle (which has the side-effect of centering your wheels). Simply using a longer bar to bring your axle to center when the vehicle is stationary does nothing to fix the altered geometry with a lift while the vehicle is in motion or articulated.

Nice build. Whts the difference between the TRD VS SR5? What makes the TRD more off-road capable?

I wouldn’t trade the dobinsons for “inspired performance”. At best they are rebranded icons using more budget friendly materials and methods (most likely) and at worst they are Alibaba knockoffs with eibach. You are going from a company who has been doing offroad suspension for like 75 years vs a budget RTT company that said “surprise” we have a full suspension lineup now. A friend actually got in on the 50 percent off and they like it but the dobi’s had the Inspired Performance setup by a solid 6” on the ramp travel index test and that is with the dobi’s setup having 3/4” bump spacers and allowing a slight wheel lift with stock bumps on the inspired performance rigs.

Every time I see someone with a high lift jack I go…”have you even ever used that thing”??

Love the rear bumper due to its slim profile. All the others I’ve seen is just too fat hence shitty departure angle. Never understood why they don’t make them slimmer
