Hungarian Mushroom Soup.
1 cup milk
3 tbsp flour
4 tbsp butter
2 cups onion
1 pound mushroom
2 tsp dried dill
2 tsp fresh thyme
2 tsp paprika
2 cups chicken broth
2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 cup dry white wine
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup sour cream

Mix 1 cup milk 3 tbsp flour, set aside.
Saute butter onion and mushrooms till caramelized.
Add in herbs, broth, soy, and wine, simmer.
Add flour mixture and simmer.
Add lemon juice and sour cream, simmer till mixed.
Serve in a bowl with a dollop of sour cream topped with fresh parsley.

I tried this last night and it was freakin' amazing. I only substituted the milk with heavy cream.... now recipe is forever in my arsenal of home cooking.

This was great. I used heavy cream, an extra cup of broth, and went heavy on the sour cream. This was extremely good! WOW!

The taste of it was convincingly Hungarian until I added the lemon juice. Also, FYI, no traditional Hungarian recipe ever contains soy sauce :)

I just saw this soup made on another YT channel, "How To Make Dinner" ( it gave your full credit w/ links and praise:) and made me subscribe to your channel and site) so I had to run out and get all the ingredients half way through watching haha, even got proper Hungarian Paprika as I was out.. this looks phenomenal!!

Just made this yesterday vegan version. Used cashew milk instead and no sour cream. Big hit!

You can use clarified bacon grease in lieu of butter. Use buttery chardonnay for your white wine. Also Worcestershire instead of soy sauce to give it more zip. I just made this today. This is a wonderful soup to eat next to a campfire with a good rustic sourdough bread.
DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT USE VEGETABLE BROTH, IT WILL SMELL AND TASTE LIKE VOMIT.

This soup is freaking delicious, however, it's too many mushrooms for MY taste. I am definitely more of a brothy soup kind of girl and after being refrigerated for a few days, there wasn't enough liquid for my liking and just too many mushrooms but the flavor was still excellent.

Can I use regular paprika? I can't find Hungarian paprika.

The video says soy sauce, but the blog recipe says Worcestershire sauce.
