Another return to the Shippey Cemetery! Another shocking find! I have started a separate playlist for this cemetery to help y’all keep up with the specific story of this one.

As always a very special thanks to Dan Bruner and Col. Hutch for their efforts with this amazing cemetery.

My middle daughter and I volunteered to help clean up our old City Cemetery one weekend and it was a great time helping but sad the way people vandalized the graves. We have one grave in a small town near us and a little girl died years ago and her parents built a beautiful dollhouse on her grave. You could tell they put a lot of hard work building that precious dollhouse. Then it was vandalized. I for the life of me can't understand why anyone would ever destroy that dollhouse that was probably built by the girl's father before he passed. Anyway luckily the people got together and built another dollhouse. How can anyone be so disrespectful is beyond me!

Great work again. I have a some what similar situation where I live.
A very good friend's father passed away. He was a veteran of WW II.
After the graveside service we walked around the cemetery talking and I noticed how many veterans were laid to rest there.
I went back to place a flag on his father's grave for him on Memorial Day thinking I would see many others.
I was sad to see only a couple.
I took it upon myself to rectify the situation. I counted the number of veterans there and bought a flag for each one.
I was hoping that it would get around that someone was placing flags there and offer to help.
It's been 9 years now and I had one offer of help last year. They never showed.
So, like you, I will carry on.
It isn't the notoriety, it's the feeling of doing something right no matter who knows.

That's such a nice thing to do - cleaning up the graves. When I was a teenager, I used to jog through a really old cemetery (1800s) and my mom told me that I should place some flowers on a random grave each time and read their names out of respect. I used to say a prayer for them too. It was a really old cemetery but was fairly well maintained.

Amazing that something from 2001 looks so overgrown and forgotten.

I headed a committee to restore the pioneer cemetery in my town. The best way to clean all of the letters and numbers is with an old tooth brush. Do you have access to water in there? That would help. There is a stone soap that is a neutral ph that does a great job with a bit of elbow grease and kitchen brushes or the tooth variety. Good for you, taking on that project!

I am shocked that graves dating only back to the 70s have come to be abandoned & in this condition. How terrible to be so forgotten. God bless all 3 of you for your efforts in cleaning up this cemetery. You are surely earning your angel wings. Thanks for sharing this project with us.

Awesome To See You Return With Some Company To Clear Out That Location. Amazing what some people will go through to bring flowers to a loved one. Hopefully they will now visit them more often with that cemetery cleaned.

My husband and I belong to a site called " find a grave " and people send in photo requests for cemeterys some are relatives who are to sick to visit loved ones anymore and others are people doing genealogy work. We enjoy it because it helps people never be forgotten.

I really appreciate the fact that you try to read each and every headstone. I can't wander through old cemeteries anymore...too old. If you ever look in Florida, keep your eyes open for "Jenny Kim
C/Koppers". My daughter told me that's who she had been before being bitten by snakes in a pond in Florida in 1917. She told me that when she was 3 yrs. Old.

A few years ago, I had to uncover (and photograph) all the flat military headstones in a veterans section of a cemetery in Duluth, Minnesota. They were buried under years of grass and sod. About 55 markers in all. And the cemetery wasn't even an abandoned one.

That first grave stone you said about that person's birth or death date is 1985 which is my birth year. I'll be turning 35 years old in a few days. I've seen a few other of your video series, and you seem to have a really cool way of seeing old graves and showing it to people to never forget about the dead. This is important work. Keep it coming.
