The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...

This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.

Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Beautiful Dorothy carving. I wonder if Aunt Maude is supposed to be "Auntie M" from the movie. 🤔

The destiny of this little angel, Dorothy, who lived just 5 months was to inspire with her name one of the most beloved and famous children's novel in the all human history. I am romanian and even now, after so many years, I remember my emotions, my feelings which I had when at 12 years old I have read this marvelous book. It was in romanian language and the name in translation was ''Vrăjitorul din Oz''. Thank you so much sir because you bring me back so nice memories with this video. Greetings from Romania to all and be happy for the present moment.

The skill and dexterity required to manipulate a chaisaw and make such art is amazing. That gentleman is an artist and a Craftsman. Excellent story of Dorothy, thank you and keep up the good work.

I was weened on the OZ books. At one time I owned 20 of them. While I never seriously read them, as a young boy I fell in love with Ozma the ideal girl in my youth. In time I met an Ozma look-a-like and we hit it off right away. We used to date on a regular basis for over a decade! We never married. I am a serious Catholic while she was a militant atheist. We are still friends. Much love from L. Frank Baum's hometown of Chicago.

I've seen chainsaw artists display their skills at county fairs. It's pretty amazing what they can do. And, the chainsaw isn't the only tool that is used. For the more precise details, files, sanders, even torches are used. I'm curious as to how it is being preserved from the elements. All in all, a great tribute to the inspiration of an iconic character. Rest in peace little Dorothy.

I once read a book about the “real Dorothy”. His story was based on her.

For those of us who read the "Oz" books and grew up with the M-G-M film, this video was especially poignant. It must have been devastating for the Gage family to lose their baby at only 5 months of age. Though Dorothy would never know it, she is remembered through the stories Baum created. Interesting Note: Frank Morgan (who played the wizard) actually wore L. Frank Baum's coat in the movie. It was discovered totally by accident in a local thrift shop and it fit Morgan perfectly!
