Hi guys. I know this is an old thread but I am sure that people are still watching this tutorial to assemble the kit.
I have made several dozen of these kits for friends and to make a little money.
One suggestion that will save you a lot of time is to throw the header pin strips into the trash instead of breaking off each pin and soldering it into the board. Just solder the LED leads into the board instead. Lots of time saved. Have fun.

Hi. My IC's started to smoke when I inserted leds in to test the circuit.

i got to the test step and only the leds 5, 6, and 7 were lighting up

I ordered this same kit. Unfortunately they chips did not come programmed. After contacting the seller to see if I was able to program the chips myself, I did not get a response until after the return date. Is there anyone who has run into this problem and found some solution to programming these yourself?
