Bad Merge Compilation 3

It's back, after nearly a 3 year hiatus. Due to the popularity of the first two compilations I've decided to keep this going. Merging onto an interstate properly is a concept that many Chicagoans still fail to grasp, in this specific one, you will even see drivers skipping over lanes before even reaching the minimum speed. Can you say yikes? This spans from episodes 43 to 82 as well as a standalone video and goes all the way back to the fall of 2016 in some clips. Enjoy!

people like you (guy recording) make driving stressful for others. you honestly shouldn't be on the road with that kind of patience. In a lot of these clips, you were in the wrong.

In some of these examples, the car in front of you had cars moving slowly in front of them, which is why some of them were breaking. Agree, its a danger to slow down while merging. These people need to pick up their speed, 100%. But you also need to calm down. You're as much a hazard driving around them aggressively as they are slowing down. Both don't help anyone on the road.

If the same person filmed all these, that person needs to take some safe driving courses. Driving too aggressively causes more accidents than being slower. Passing people on the ramp (which is illegal) who are just doing 10 below the speed limit, or when they have merged on (too slow for your taste, but without wrecking), passing them from the merge lane just to cut them off, are just too aggressive. Patience goes a long way. There’s nothing wrong with keeping a safe distance from them, following them onto the road at whatever speed they are doing…and then, speeding up to pass them. You’ll get to where you’re going 30 seconds later, but it’ll be safer for you, and everyone around you.

Driving is a social activity, if you see someone is trying to merge, you can go to another lane to give some room

You're supposed to move over when a merge ramp is particularly crowded. In some cases you're blaming others for you failing to share the road responsibly.

How do you not realize you're the one with issues if most of the comments points it out for you?

Some of ur clips are just straight trolling. And in one of them u crossed the solid white line and did zipper merge. Not only is that illegal and dangerous but also a complete disregard for your safety and the safety of the other drivers on the road. I’m surprised someone didn’t get out of their car and punch you.

The person recording these videos breaks a lot of laws. One of the main ones is failure to yield at a merge. Yes people are merging slow which is annoying. Use the open lanes and pass on the left. Its illegal to cut people off and switch lanes quickly.

Highway merging still terrifies me and I've been driving for a year, but even I don't merge like this. I accelerate to the highway speed while keeping my eye on the mirror, if I see a wide enough gap I don't even wait to finish the acceleration lane, I'm just too anxious that the gap might close, of course I check first to see that the guy behind me is not doing the same thing.

What would be the right move to do at 1:43? acceleration lane was ending, and he can't change lane and speed up since there is a car in front. I'm a new driver and would like to avoid doing something stupid.

3:15 he was braking because he was behind a slow car and probably didn't want to hit him. His speed didn't really change that much so there was no need to honk in fact it wasn't really noticeable at all.

Did you call out some of the speeds in dog years? Didn't seem like MPH unless video was slowed down.
