2:06 is my favourite part of the clip. The driver is still trying to steer, even though they are already in the air. Beautiful detail.

The filming of 'You Only Live Twice' on location co-incided with when the Boeing Corporation CH-46A Sea Knight was undergoing trials for the JASDF and this you see is one of the production prototypes taking as break from those trials. Boeing Corp agreed to let this helicopter be borrowed for the day given that it was appearing in a 'Bondie' and that it would have some of it's capabilities shown off as part of the stunt: The quick lifting of the car and the handling of the helicopter with a one ton load dangling underneath it was what sealed the deal :o)

Many locations shown on this movie has changed dramatically since then. This film always reminds me some nostalgic memories of old days in Tokyo.
It was not high tech nor automated yet, but people worked so hard with many hope.

Anyone else find it hysterical in these films when characters can see the action on a screen? So, like, they not only sent out a helicopter with a magnet but also a second one just as a live TV transmission feed?

Ah, the Toyota 2000GT. One of the best looking Bond cars imo. Fun fact, the reason this one's a convertible is because Connery was actually too tall to fit in the hard top, so Toyota cut the roof off of two examples of the car just for the film.

When it comes to portrayal of James Bond 007 no one surpasses Sir Sean Connery (R.I.P). And 1960s Bond Films most of us will concur were the best.

Steering whilst in the air. I bet he was braking like hell when they released the magnet.

I love how the guy tries to steer the car when it's already off the ground.

Wow! All of those old-fashioned cars look familiar to me. They were quite common everywhere on the Japanese roads when I was a Japanese primary school pupil.

"Usual reception". I love the idea that this is a regular occurrence.

One of the rare times where Bond actually had some "muscle" on his side instead of against him!

2:06 I always loved the fact that even though they are half way up in the sky the driver IS STILL STEERING haha

Awesome how he can watch the helicopter carrying and dropping the car on his dash tv because there's another helicopter filming the first helicopter just for them to watch

I saw this the first time I was “allowed“ to go to the movies by myself! I was nine years old and saw it on a James Bond double feature along with “Thunderball!”

ok....so Bond is basically watching what we're watching but still...what a great sequence! And YOLT is one of my fave soundtracks too.
