With a Little Help from Max for Live shows you how to make cool things in Ableton Live possible with various Max for Live devices, a lot of them free from the Ableton Pack section. In this episode we're using two devices from the free Max for Live Essentials Pack, MultiMap and Map8, to create a control centre of one knobs that can control up to 64 parameters in one place from all over the Live Set.

Thanks for that tutorial! Is Map8 always on the master track?

For some reason when I export a track, multimap breaks and isn't able to be controlled with automation until I delete it and undo the deletion.

The end result is that the automation I put on the one knob does not happen in my export and also is broken in live right after I export...any ideas/leads?

I’m experimenting with you technique of mapping the volumes and mutes to map8 or even better still 32 macros(link below) and preset recall to have a selection of volume settings to sculpt arrangements and add dynamics in realtime. Presets can be drastically different for big changes or subtle, raising vols by 2db over 4 stages with separate presets can add energy or drop down a level for the verse. Big up mothergarage
