It struck me within the first five minutes that Rory was 32, the same age as her mother in the first episode in the first season. Her mother, who at age 32, had single handedly raised a 16 year old child accepted to a prestigious private academy, owned her own home, ran an entire business and planning to start her own inn, was in college at night also, was heavily involved and respected in her community, and even had a far more respectable love life complete with commitment and decent men who committed to her too. I found how they wrote adult Rory so disappointing, especially compared to her still striving and acheiving mother...and how well that mother raised her.

the only thing I loved was Emily. she has really blossomed and become more colorful and very dynamic

How about the general lack of happinesss... The original show is cheerful and puts you in a good mood. The revival is bleak. Also, teenage Rory would be disgusted by adult Rory. Not even the same person.

Paris called it on senior picture day back at Chilton, when she said she reseached the history of valedictorians and found them to not be doing so well in life.

Rory- "I'm so desperate. I can't find a job."
Dean at Chilton offers her a job
Rory- "Thanks. But no thanks."

Can we talk about the fact that Mitchum Huntzberger was right about Rory!

You’re telling me Rory, a Yale graduate and valedictorian from her HS prep Chilton, was too stupid to remember her boyfriend’s name and to break up with him for two whole years? And I expected her to hit some speed bumps along the way, but get back on track like she always did and make things happen. I watched once and cannot ever watch again it was so bad.

How about the fact that Jess was in the revival for all of five minutes and he made EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE better, but got absolutely no credit whatsoever. We didn't get to find out about anything that he's been doing these past years and you know the whole looking longingly through the window at Rory... yeah we needed more of Jess!!

When Logan "cheated" on Rory with the bridesmaids she was inconsolable and wouldn't even speak to him, but when she slept with Dean when he was married that was okay. And sleeping with Logan while he is engaged to someone else is ok. I think our perfect princess Rory has always been on the selfish side. We were just blinded by the town's devotion to her. BTW I love the show. I think Rory got tossed into the real world where everything she did wasn't automatically perfect.

Honestly I feel like they destroyed Rory’s character, Lorelai and Luke’s relationship was so lackluster, where the heck was Jackson?? I was quite unhappy with the reboot.

Rory dumped Dean for Jess who was awful (at that time anyway), had an affair with Dean, was friends w Benefits with Logan, ran to Jess and kissed him while she was with Logan... why are we surprised the girl is a mess? Not to mention her entitlement and whining while she was a teenager. People change, but not much. She was always going to be this way.

my friend proposed the theory that the main show, gilmore girls is rory's book in tv show format and that she glorifies some of the events of her life and that the revival is their real life, which is why the characters in the revival are kind of different

Literally the worst ending I could have EVER imagined. Even the last damned scene was of the girls being shocked, not smiling. We don't even get to see an actual wedding or who Rory ends up with. So beyond disappointing.

I didn't understood at all why Luke and Lorelei never talked in 9-10 years about children or marriage again as these were huge topics in general in the whole series. It makes no sense that this was never a topic between them in all this time. I expected a child/children and/or a wedding anniversary maybe and Rorys Marriage for example, with a complete new but handsome guy. I think I need to reed fanfictions :-)

I don’t think Rory is acting out of character. She was always a bit entitled and spoiled and pretty much did what she wanted. She hasn’t changed.

The whole thing felt like an acid trip in an alternative Gilmore universe.
