Movies were the only reason I went into a Best Buy. Best Buy has been going down hill for some time now. Removal of physical media is removing any reason for me to even go into a BB anymore.

Here in Canada, all stores have no physical space for movies and if they do it's very small.

They just removed the movie section at our Best Buy this year in Las Cruces New Mexico 🥺

This really sucks. Especially since alot of the movies aren't allowing you to preorder all the time. It's getting hard to even get them delivered.

They remodeled my local BB a few months ago and now that it's done I went back a couple of weeks ago and was surprised. They still had the new releases in the front of the store. But I was surprised when I looked around the store and saw about 3 other places they had Blurays and 4K movies. In fact they had more than they have had in a long time and the prices for older titles was great. I got 2 4Ks for $28. So I would say you need to go back after they finish the rebuild and see what is there. It is my opinion that they use the movies to get more traffic into the store so I don't think it's so gloomy as you are thinking.

They’ve done the same with mine. I live in Canada, Victoria B.C. And there is not much physical media. They have one new release stand and a shelf, which has not much to choose from. Good thing we store called Sunrise Records. They carry a lot of 4K, Blu-Ray and the boutique brands which is good. Even our Walmart has less physical media to choose from.

Here in Cerritos, Ca., the BB here still has several rows of physical media as of this writing. It has not changed since before Christmas '21.

Are you sure they aren’t gonna put the movies back out when the remodel is finished?

Did you try the Outer Loop location? I didn't even know that the St. Mathews location existed.

My nearest BB just completed the remodel and almost all the movies are gone, except for a small 'New Release ' rack near the front. But then I went to another BB store that's slightly further away and the movie section got larger since the last time I visited. Maybe they are choosing curtain stores to carry movies and some to focus and remodel as a 'pick up' location?

It has been like this for many years here. The only way is to order online here.
We pretty much have only one store left, they has some stuff, but only new releases.

Ken I highly suggest you save up for the 65 inch LG C1 OLED bc the LG A1 is a 60hz panel and the UI runs alot slower and has a lower peak brightness.

Best Buy is getting rid of physical media in-store on display but will have it in the back for in store pick. Mine went from 6 aisles and 5 end caps to only two aisles and some end caps. They’re not getting rid of physical media.

It already happened a few months ago in my neck of the woods. I haven’t been to Best Buy for awhile now since they took the physical media away.

They are probably losing me as a customer. I go to BB to browse the physical media and shop for other home theater equipment. No physical media, no shopping for other items.

I just bought cabin in the woods steel book and the howling 4K, but my Best Buy is slowly dying, there’s hardly anything, and it seems like no one cares ab physical media anymore, which sucks, I’ve been collecting movies since I was like 10

You definitely can’t buy a tv on a day where you find out all of the physical media is being removed, it’s just too depressing haha…

Yes, it's very sad indeed. I recently talked to a friend of mine who works at a Best Buy and he told me that only certain stores will eliminate a majority of their inventory (with the exception of new releases) that are not doing well in movie sales but stores that are selling well will still continue to keep some inventory. As for your new TV, I highly recommend an OLED by LG. Samsung is up there but most of their QLED TVs don't support Dolby Atmos which is a must if you're playing 4K with HDR. That 65" LG you're looking at is a great price considering that it used to be triple that price a few years ago!
