Why would the Cayman NOT be faster?
it only has 5 less HP and weighs almost 200 pounds less than the 911...
Cayman GTS - 365hp Curb Weight- 2965 lbs
911 T Carrera - 370hp Curb Weight -3142 lbs
It's a close race, but it's exactly what the numbers predict.

The cayman is a lot faster than most people think. I have a gt3 and a Cayman gts. The gt3 is a delicate fast beauty, and the gts is a turbo brute. Best way I can describe them.

Both cars here have PDK & lanuch control, therefore it's a fair race between these two which the Cayman wins.
It's worth noting that all too often, many videos on YouTube show Boxsters/Caymans (981s as well as 718s) unfairly handicapped with manual boxes in drag races against competitors. The difference between dual clutch with launch against a manual box is huge when accelerating. I strongly suspect Porsche do not want to provide PDK'd Boxster/Caymans for drag tests. Could it be that they don't want these cars to be seen to be out performing the much more expensive 911's toes?

Porsche 911 is long with a curl gasket and Cayman is a short curl

Funny, the only reason for buying 911 is to own the icon and you can afford this. However, for long traveling I would prefer the 911 basic, S or GTS. It’s more quiet, 718 is just for fun…

The difference in price is about 22k, that's a tough pill to swallow. I would imagine the Cayman GTS beats the T on a road course, too. I love the agility that comes with the Cayman/Boxster but that 4cyl is a big turn off. Then again, the 911 is a LEGEND. I wouldn't go as far to say that I'd happily spend the extra 22K for the T, but I willingly would.

Was the T a MT or PDK? Would be interesting to see the numbers at other intervals like 100 meters, 200 meters, to get a better idea of power delivery.

I still would want the 911. Only mine would be even slower I want that short throw manual. For 2-3500.00 a tuner in either car brings power and torque up. The T can easily be 475 hp. A T with manual keep back seat is still practical beautiful great resale. Only very limited number of Ts
I just bought a racing yellow one with 6k on clock for 90k carbon brakes and all. I absolutely love it!!! I like cayman very much too especially gt4

Carrera T (manual) vs 718 GTS (PDK )
Try both with PDK gearbox and you will see very different results.

If Carrera T did not raise the rear wing from the beginning, the result might have been a draw.
