But the 911 is PDK (and had launch control) whilst the Boxster is just manual, slowing it down drastically both off the line and during gear changes! Why even bother if they're not both PDK/Chrono? Clearly the Boxster would have won (by quite a large margin) if both cars were spec'd the same.

I seriously doubt the 991 S cab will be way ahead around a track. I would not be surprised if the 981 Boxster is quicker on a shorter and more technical track than the 991 cab. I have owned and tracked both a 987 Boxster and 997 S for many years and in my humble opinion the Boxster is now on par with the 911.

Why compare a 911 (with PDK + Launch control) against a (manually driven) Boxster? That's unfair.  If BOTH cars had PDK+Launch then the Boxster would have won by quite a margin!

You can’t beat the beautiful look of of a 911, I love them got the 981 is a total bargain, if the boxster was pdk with launch control and a remap would of been a dead heat, all the 991s have 74mm throttle and the 991 3.4 is a 82 mm throttle same 3.4 dfi engine, ether way you gotta love your Porsche’s:-) Rev the shit out of them flat 6 fun ...

I have to agree. I have the boxster, and when I tell people I have a Porsche they're like OH a 911?!? No... a boxster. OH... they say, as if I just told them bad news. They love it when they see it of course, but a 911 is the car to get. Course, they're double the price too, and I'm very glad I started with the boxster to get my feet wet. Now I'm a porsche addict. Those magazines are right, I can see why reviewers worship Porsche.

in the real world, the boxster is quicker, because it does not have the engine hanging off the rear giving a nervous handling feeling. Porsche know this and always give the boxster less power so it does not interfere with the sales of its flagship 911 models.

As a 997 S and 987 S owner I can tell you that the Boxster is a close match. Even more so with the 991 / 981 series. In a straight line it can't compete, but on a technical track for sure. I don't know what track experience you have, but judging from your comment appearance and respect seem more important to you. Subjectively that is fine, objectively not.

Well the PDK Boster S 4, 8 sec vs the 911 Cabriolet with 4, 6. the 911 is 40000 € more (If you take the manual 911 the Boster S wins by 0, 2 sec. and its still like 38000 more) . Now for pure drag racing at the stop signs the Boxster S is clearly the winner cause you have extra money for Tires so having more fun with it can feel more rational than with a 911...  and you could tune the boster for less than 40k to have 90 hp extra. So on a budget for racing: boster S. But in the end: most people dont race on their way to work so whatever.
