When you say don't go too heavy go 8 to 12? Do you mean pounds? or what?

Too high for me. It feels better 1”above the lower pecks.

For big shoulders? More like for ruined shoulders! Abducting the humerus above 40-50° in the frontal plane is a good recipe for impingement problems down the road since you impinge the subacromial bursa and tendon of the supraspinatus.
