Bowie and Iggy are true musical geniuses. Heroes and Lust for life will always end up in my top 10 favorite albums

How ironic that Iggy pop is the one thats still alive out of him, Bowie and Reed with all the drugs he took (even though I assume non of them was what you would call clean). Even in Trainspotting they were asking if he was still alive and that movie is from 1996 if I remember correctly

You should do a story on The Stooges live album “Metallic KO” where Iggy basically berates the audience. You can even hear beer bottles thrown by the audience whizzing by the mic’s and shattering on the stage.

If you could, do a story on Mia Zapata of The Gits. The way her story ended was just tragic to say the least

Great video! Lust for Life is one of my all time favorite songs. I read that David Bowie wrote the chords for it on a Ukulele, and told Iggy that he should call it Lust for Life, named after a film about Vincent Van Gogh. When Iggy wrote the lyrics he referenced a novel by Burroughs and it has a lot to do with being a heroin addict. Funny, that it was used in a lot of happy T.V. commercials, given the subject matter.
Oh, and my favorite of the Berlin trilogy is Low. Love the Bass lines on the tracks of side A.

I grew up in Detroit and saw the Stooges many times, fist time Iggy jumped of the stage right on top of me, he knocked out the lights when he jumped into to them and the show stopped while he taunted the audience they through ice at him fom coolers..lol.Seems like the drug seen went from Acid to downers that night as getting downed out was a perfect match for the Stooges.Hard to believe both Iggy and myself made it through those time's...alot of people didn't.

Iggy rules and during interviews people have tried to get him to talk bad about bowie using him for creative influence and he never takes the bait just saying that it was a mutually beneficial relationship. You gotta love it

The sad thing about their friendship is, I feel that David viewed it in higher regards than Jim (Iggy) ever did. Not saying that Iggy didn't value their friendship, but David truly appreciated him and did so much to make things better for him countless times. He got Iggy signed up to MainMan, which ended disasterously. He visited Iggy in the hospital and took him to Berlin with him a year later. And he came back in the mid-80s and helped him make Blah Blah Blah. Iggy pretty much checked out in the early '90s and didn't talk to David much after that, and David was seemingly hurt by that. David had so much respect and admiration for Jim, but Jim didn't seem to hold as much admiration for David. But Jim has always been like that with others, from his fellow bandmates in the Stooges to the Sales brothers (his drummer and bassist for his Lust For Life-era band). He's always had a bad habit of pushing others away when they outlived their usefulness. Love Iggy and he's a big inspiration of mine, but that's a nasty habit of his I don't admire.

Bowie was especially strung out on dope in his Berlin days you didn’t mention but smoking probably killed him in 2016 thru cancer at 69!Greg Allman also died from liver cancer at 69 a little after Bowie!Very 😞 Sad

Also - 9 years after "Lust For Life" - Bowie and Pop collaborated on "Blah Blah Blah" - (1986).

This was my favourite upload on your YouTube channel, because it wasn't the usual artists that grace your page. Add to the fact that it was very well researched and informative. Thanks! 👍🏻

Many of the Punk Rock artists say that Rock and Roll died in 1967. Couldn't agree more, but there were a few Rock stars that managed to maintain Rock n' Roll's edge as bores like Cream and The Grateful Dead flooded radio stations. So here is a list of 'em

1. The Beatles (White Album-Abbey Road)
2. The Rolling Stones `(1968-1972)
3. The Doors
4. Jimi Hendrix
5. Black Sabbath
6. The Stooges
7. Hawkwind
8. Alice Cooper
9. Patti Smith
10. David Bowie
11. MC5
12. Blue Cheer
13. Velvet Underground
14. Lou Reed
15. Bob Dylan (until he became a Christian)
16. King Crimson
17. Frank Zappa
18. Led Zeppelin (1968-1971)
