I wasn't really paying attention to the internet mid-season 5. Did Mike get this much flack when he took over as host? Did Bill get flamed when he took over Crow duties?

I'll admit, it's weird not hearing Kevin as Tom Servo, but seriously ... change has happened on the show before, and it worked out just fine. I'm more than willing to trust Joel with his choices for the new cast.

We're realizing the dream of bringing back a beloved show, what, almost 15 years after it was last on the air? Is it really so difficult for the internet to appreciate that without having to dig at the changes? You're only going to ruin it for yourselves.

Trust Joel. Trust the formula. Just relax. Jeez.

Ok I know this thing can't be EXACTLY like the old one so I'm not gonna go there with this, but here's a legitimate issue I think needs to be raised:

Tom, Crow, and the new guy all have VERY similar voices and I was seriously getting them confused during just this clip. Me no like

I'm really happy they are trying to bring this up to date. I completely support Jonah. I think he'll be great for introducing new fans. Everyone who wants to stay stuck in the past needs to get over it.

Somebody has to say it -- The show was at it's best, it's golden era, was with it's creator Joel Hodgson, Tracy Beaulieu, Kevin Murphy, Jim Mallon, "TV's Frank" Conniff and Mike Nelson as the intermittent characters from the films and other side appearances. The "new host for a new generation" idea is not always the best thing to do. What's wrong with the original, seasoned geniuses resuming the roles they've created and letting whole new generations get to know the greats in new episodes? Nothing compared to Joel's innocent, laid-back, sleepy and lovable presence. Mike Nelson was, after all, funniest when he made his intermittent appearances. The chemistry of Joel and the Bots was unsurpassed and never funnier. Joel, I loved seeing you live for your "CINEMATIC TITANIC" tour and meeting you afterwards. It only confirmed to me that you are the one-and-only for your own creation. I will watch the new episodes, but it just won't have the same zing that you gave it. Congrats on reaching your first funding goal!

Side note: If anyone should replace you, my first pick would be Kevin Sussman, best known for his role as Stuart Bloom on The Big Bang Theory. He could be "Joel Robinson's" brother!

I don't mind the new host. but I have to say that for the show to REALLY work, Crow and Tom's voices have to be DISTINCTIVELY UNIQUE from each other. The comedy factor matters, yes, but I believe a little bit of the sound of the guys' voices made a huge impact on the show. :)
