Hey, friend! I would personally recommend planting each tree in individual pots. Oaks leech tanins into the ground to prevent competition in their immediate growing area. It’s probably not a problem this early on in the growth, but it’s still something to keep in mind. You’re doing great! Keep it up!

Acorns put out a long tap root so it's best to plant them directly in the ground.

My mom and i are also growing acorn trees haha but we just put them in water and then when roots came out we put them in soil and they are growing beautifully 😍 i love planting and gardening so much!!!!

The roots will grow same speed, once roots are out the ones in soil will grow faster, i teach you a trick: soak some water orbies in liquid fertilizer then fill your vase with them 😉

Soil will grow stronger and better in the long run because of the fertilizer and nutrients already there. Water only has couple of minerals no major growth boosters.

What if you break the root coming out of an oak acorn.will it still grow?

if the sprout comes out where the root is, then the one that you put in the water will have a hard time sprouting out.

The one in soil is going to grow better just for the fact that soil has more micro and macro nutrients compared to tap water. This is also one of the reasons why avocado sprouts die after transplant shock if sprouted in water, when you take a plant for nutrient deficient environment and put it into a nutrient rich environment the inner environment tries to match the outer environment causing the plant to die from osmotic drought.
