When most people imagine California, they think of the thriving cities like Los Angeles or San Francisco. Or they think of Hollywood the heart of American entertainment where the streets are lined with celebrities.

If you’re a bit more outdoors oriented you’ve definitely heard of Yosemite National Park or the famous Highway 11 drive along the rugged coastline. While all of these are true aspects of California, I grew up on a very different side of the Sierra Nevadas.

I grew up in a small town outside of Lake Tahoe called Nevada City. This area of Northern California is where you realize just how many hidden secrets California really has to offer. Since it looks like we're going to be traveling domestically this summer, I’m going on a NorCal road trip and I’m excited to show you guys my beautiful home!

When enjoying the outdoors, especially waterfalls and hot springs, please be respectful of the environment and practice Leave No Trace ethics and make sure to pack out all the trash you bring in. Let's leave these places better than we found them this summer!

When you picked up the plastic bottles - I was in awe of your environmental consciousness. When I hike, I usually do the same. It’s important to keep such beautiful elements of our nature void of human infiltration, leaving behind their non recyclable residue.

Lexi, as someone who grew up in Siskiyou county I appreciate you for sharing the messages of not polluting these areas.

Also, it's great that you didn't share the names of the places as people can visit the local town's nearby to find information at the visitor centers and contribute to the local economy.

I look forward to seeing what other parts you share of Nor-Cal as you know there's so many more!

Mammoth!! I commented earlier before seeing that part of the video. I live very close to Mammoth. I love it when people acknowledge and explore the beauty of California. It’s such a diverse place. Like you said, so many people just think of big cities, sun, and beaches, but there is so much more. Sun, snow, deserts, mountains, forests, National Parks, and more. It’s such a serine place to live. I enjoy going to Lake Sabrina, Rock Creek, and some others. Pond hockey in the winter is also phenomenal. I’ve been to beautiful lakes where the entire surface is frozen over as perfect and smooth as a rink with a stunning view. It’s my favorite thing ever. I recommend it if you’ve never been pond skating or played pond hockey. Extremely fun. 😁🤙

Wow, those waterfalls look amazing! The second one you showed gave me flashbacks of the breathtaking waterfalls I saw at Plitvice Lakes in Croatia a few years ago. I really love these hidden gem videos where you show the places which not many people visit or even think about. That's one of the things I enjoy about exploring my home state of Michigan. There is always something unique to see in your backyard as you say throughout the video. Awesome video, Lexie!

That trail is breath-taking. That water sound in the backyard was recorded at its finest. Raw nature indeed. You guys made me want to reconnect to nature. Thanks for this vid. Please don't stop making them!

Thanks for actually picking up after these people. So frustrating when people don't have the basic decency to NOT ruin these places with their garbage

Beautiful! I agree that people typically think of California’s big cities, but really the state is so diverse. I live right next to the Sierra Nevada’s. California has sun, surfing, snow, snowboarding, deserts, mountains, beaches, forests, and so much more. A really beautiful state.

I am really excited to watch this amazing nature and falls in ur video. Usually me and my friend used to trek atleast once in a month, to visit waterfalls nearby our neighbouring state. But it's been almost half a year gone now we haven't visited any due to government closing those areas. Because of some people who vandalise or tamper the nature and also ongoing pandemic issues. Nature is there for us to enjoy, but most of us forget that and damage not only the nature but safety of themselves and other public's surrounded by that area. Hoping everything would come to normal life soon. So that borders will be opened and closed areas will be reopened again to enjoy. Mostly I never make comments. Since u mentioned that issues created by public in these places. I thought these public disturbances usually happens in developing countries like us. But now through videos like these I can see that it's happening in developed countries also. Being human I am feeling guilt behalf of people who forget to preserve nature while enjoying out there.
