I have diven all alround Japan, its a way better experience if you want to see the country side rather than using the obviously excelent train network. Fuel is not expensive on world standards, just compared to north america. Its pretty much on par with my home country of Australia. Yes the expressways are expensive but whatever, they are perfectly maintained and this is a holiday. You can get an Auto 86 from any Toyota rental shop. My advise is to see the big citys, but don't drive in them, just drive in the country, parking is free. I agree that trying to drive though big citys without tolls is basically impossible, traffic is not that bad but just the way the city is not heavily catered to cars, so you can barely drive fater than 40kph. Oh and care rental is fairly priced aswell. Japan is not that expensive if you ask me, pretty much the same as any other western country. Its one of my favorite places to visit.

One thing I learned was that insurance wasn't required, so young people would buy a car, it they wrecked it, never mind buy another...I dropped the comment meant for this video on the Nismo Omori Factory walk though...because my hands were quicker than my eye. At least I do know that I have abundant headroom in any of the four seats in the R34.

omg major blue balls for an age restriction on the r34. besides always being booked on that car are the age restrictions different per rental lot? and cars like the NSX do you have to be 26 or something??

Gas in Toronto was around 145 to 155 a litre, in Canadian that is, and our gallon is 4.546 Litres, the US being 3.75litres...not exactly where they were, but I guess this is what happened when you start atom smashing.
