For healthy nails it is so important to research the anatomy of nails and the surrounding soft tissues.

For instance, look into how soaking natural nails in water prior to filling and cuticle work has negative or positive effect. For instance, natural nails shouldn't be filled or buffed after soaking, this should be done before soaking otherwise you are using abrasive tools on water logged nails. This can cause delaminantion (peeling) and splitting. Using a nail clipper this way also isn't a great idea nor is cutting your cuticles. Over buffing and filling the surface of the nail will most certainly cause damage and thinning of the nail plate.

The metal nail file in the kit is also a big no no. Choose a salon quality 240/240 file or glass file.

Keeping your tools sanitised is also highly recommended even if they are only for your own use.

Investing in and using a high quality cuticle oil is also highly recommended. Use it at least twice a day and you will see a great improvement in the health of your cuticles and nails along with a reduction in hangnail growth. Cutting cuticles only makes them grow back thicker and faster.

It is commendable to adopt the DIY appraoch but as with all things, research, research, research and then pass on 'healthy' methods and tips being careful not to pass on methods that can cause nail damage or worse...

I just placed my order. I have been getting Acrylics on my nails for years and i no they destroy your nails but i just keep getting them, but now after seeing this video i am going to polish my own nails. I took the acrylics off about a month in a half ago and they are just now starting to look decent, so i can't wait to receive this vegan manicure set so i can get my nails to health from now moving forward. I just cut all my nails super short because a few had chipped low & you just encouraged me to give them some TLC & a nice coat of pretty polish!
