Prey is coming to Hulu August 5

“Prey,” an all-new action-thriller from 20th Century Studios directed by Dan Trachtenberg (“The Boys,” “10 Cloverfield Lane”) and the newest entry in the “Predator” franchise, will stream August 5, 2022, exclusively on Hulu.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

“Prey” is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (“Jack Ryan,” “Treadstone”), and produced by John Davis (“Jungle Cruise,” “The Predator”) and Jhane Myers (“Monsters of God”), with Lawrence Gordon (“Watchmen”), Marty Ewing (“It: Chapter Two”), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (“Fantasy Island”) serving as executive producers.

The filmmakers were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples. Myers, an acclaimed filmmaker, Sundance Fellow and member of the Comanche nation herself, is known for her attention and dedication to films surrounding the Comanche and Blackfeet nations and her passion for honoring the legacies of the Native communities. As a result, the film features a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent, including Amber Midthunder (“The Ice Road,” “Roswell, New Mexico”), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (“Sooyii”), Michelle Thrush (“The Journey Home”), Julian Black Antelope (“Tribal”).

If I had a nickel for every piece of media called Prey involving aliens hunting a Native American, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

I'd be perfectly happy with a series of movies set in different periods of history.
Predators hunting spartans, aztec warriors, cossacks, samurai, romans, medieval knights, zulus, napoleonic soldiers, and elite forces in the world wars.

Please let this franchise finally return. First movie a classic, the second is one to me as well. I get if people aren't keen on the second one. We'll see. I am going to check it out for sure.

You don't give too much away, you don't reveal the design of the predator, and you just show something simple

I’m all for this. It’s a different and exciting setting. I wouldn’t mind seeing a PREDATOR film in ancient Japan. 🤞🏼

Now this is how you do predator no flashy action scenes no monologues just the unsettling ambiance and the feeling of something stalking you, I get this is just one scene of the movie and lI'm really hoping the rest of the movie is like this.

One of the things I feel is missing from these sequels is the orginal's emphasis on how the creature was drawn to (perhaps could only thrive in) areas of extreme high heat. Even down in the Central American jungles the locals said it would only show up in the hottest summers. I like the idea of a prequel set hundreds of years earlier but I wish they would do another tropical rainforest setting, or even a desert with labyrinthine rock formations for the creature to hide in.

Well whatever we get, it cannot be as bad as The Predator, I'm still quite gutted that Prey isn't getting a theatrical release though.

Setting it in the past works amazingly, because as we learned in 2 they have been hunting humans for hundreds of hundreds of years. What makes A Predator movie interesting is the outsmarting of the hunter for what limited tools the Hunted has at their disposal.

I think it would be kind of cool to see predators visit earth every major era. As long as the story's are good are the characters are fun it should be good

I've been wanting Predator prequels for a while showing how the Predators hunt humans in different time periods. Can't wait for this!

U can’t help but just to get hype every time I hear the sound design of the targeting system or that clicking noise from the predator. I hope this gets the franchise back on track

If this is even half as good as Predator, Predator 2 and Predators, I’ll be happy!
