What Is Aegean Sea Dispute?

Показать описание
The Aegean Sea, an arm of the Mediterranean Sea, is an 83,000-square-mile stretch between Europe and Asia. It lies between Greece and Turkey and has been a point of contention between the two countries. Strategically the position of the Aegean islands is very important as they are in close proximity to Turkey but are controlled by Greece. It is a naturally rich region with approximately 2 billion barrels of oil and 4 trillion cubic meters of natural gas which is still unexplored.

STATUS of islands is CRYSTAL CLEAR:
1. Lausanne Peace Treaty 1923, Αrticle 12: All Aegean islands > 3 (land-)miles off the Minor Asia coast are Greek. Dodecanese islands (Rhodes, Kos, etc.) are placed under the sovereignty of Italy.

2. Paris Peace Treaty 1947: Italy cedes to Greece in full sovereignty the Dodecanese islands. Turkey is not even a party to that treaty and, hence, cannot lay any claims on those whatsoever.

That Turkey dislikes the Peace Treaties, starts questioning sovereignty of islands and pursues a revisionist agenda is another topic...

Would anyone accept to discuss whether the house, which he rightfully owns and is living in, should be given to his neighbour because he has started putting claim on that?

The Agean Sea IS Greece
Greece IS the Agean Sea.

There is no dispute. The Aegian is Greek and all the islands are Greek and have been Greek since 3000 BC. Just because Turkey says there's a dispute doesn't mean there is a dispute.

What is Aegean sea Dispute in few words:
The delusional and provocative claim of Turkey that Greek sovereign soil (namely the islands) could be surrounded be Turkish waters.

Cyprus is not Turkey.
Cyprus is Cyprus.

Just because Turkey is temporarily illegally occupying part of the country doesn't mean it belongs to Turkey

How does Kastelorizo is 600km from Greece when is it Greece itself and is close to any other Greek island ?
One nation is there for almost 4000 years and you can see any evidence from art and culture at any inch you discover even on ( today's) Turkey territory. The other nation is a 100 years old nation coming from many nations combinations 7 centuries ago ?
Every nation has militarised its borders from any threat, even when threats dont exist but Greece cannot even when someone threats everyday and takes actions to violate territories and most important they jave done it in the past ?
There is no such a dispute in reallity. And never was.
